LTTE Intelligence wing leader for Trincomalee district killed

LTTE's intelligence wing leader for southern Trincomalee district was killed by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) yesterday. The LTTE cadre who was identified as 'Thangan' was shot and killed by the army in Neelapola, on the 19th. Although the LTTE does not have permanent bases in the Trincomalee region, members from their intelligence wing are known to maintain presence in the area.

Meanwhile the SLA operations into LTTE held Wanni are progressing gradually. The operations, continuing on 3 fronts (Vavuniya, Mannar and Weli Oya) are pushing LTTE defenses to their limits. Apart from the conventional units, army is using special forces and commando units to conduct deep battlespace operations. A week ago, a team of army commandos ambushed LTTE's Mannr district leader inside LTTE held territory. The leader, who was traveling in a motorcycle, managed to escape the blast however his bodyguard (who was traveling in another motorcycle around 50m away from the target) was caught in the explosion and killed.

Meanwhile more than 30 LTTE cadre have been killed in fighting in the Northern province for the last 3 days while 5 soldiers laid their lives and another 15 more suffered injuries.

CHENNAI: An official report circulated at the collectors’ conference here on Thursday revealed data on the large-scale incursions by Tamil Nadu fishermen into Sri Lanka’s territorial waters, and indicated that the violations occurred even in areas not known to be traditional fishing grounds.

The report contains maps and naval radar reports showing fishermen crossing the international maritime boundary line (IMBL) not merely close to Kachchativu, the island ceded by India to Sri Lanka in 1974, but deep into Sri Lankan territorial waters and close to its coast. The boats sometimes go as far as the coast off Point Pedro on the northern tip of the Jaffna peninsula and close to towns on Sri Lanka’s western coast like Thalaimannar and Thalawila.

The report prepared by the department of fisheries expressed concern that frequent crossing of the IMBL may result in fishermen being caught in the crossfire in Sri Lanka’s battle against the LTTE. It also said that Indian fishermen and their boats could be apprehended by the island’s navy as well as the LTTE, and the crossings may lead to the Sri Lankan government accusing India’s fishermen of providing “camouflage or cover for illegal operations”.

  9. Current stratergy is group based attack mainly in the night mostly in jungle areas. This is in contrast to a conventional army stratergy and similer to the LTTE guarilla stratergy itself. And it seems SLA is better than LTTE in this stratergy too. It is said LTTE is now cutting trees in Mulathiv jungle making number of km of open land areas expecting more SLA casualties using motars/artilary in this open land. If true this proves my claim above.

    Any comments DN?

  10. Indians must have been bribed to come to SL to plead for CF and they must understand that any terrorist enclave in the Southern boarder will to the disintegration of India it self. There are interested parties in the world that would like to bring chaos to the emerging economies like India and China. It’s all to do with the limited resources in this planet. Some are concerned that newly found wealth in China and India, is responsible for high fuel and food prices. It seems our terrorist problem is taking many twists and turns and it seems many outside people have some sort of vested interest in our affairs, this is because our stupid politicians are not united, but jockeying for power.UNP’s only aim is to topple the government in power, instead of supportive to the people in power when we are going through a war like situation. Clement Atlee and Churchill worked together until the war is finished, though they were in the two different political parties.

  11. Thanks Defencenet,

You are back at last; a long sigh of relief.

    Guys,

I made some appalling grammar mistakes in my last post, as I was doing two things at the same time: working on a software project and writing a piece for the defencenet.

I made a mess of both; I remember my granma's first advice to me: never swallow while chewing. I practised the metaphorical equivalent of both and paid a little price.

So, folks just excuse me for my mistakes. English is a great language that bridge the gaps in our communication. It is my duty to show some respect towards it by not violating its rules.

I saw the video clip about the recent air-strike on a certain facility. Judging by the size of secondary explosions, that were many, it is a strategic site indeed. Well done SLAF!

Besides the resoulution of the images is breathtaking. I think if the technical folks in the air force combine this resolution with magnification in equal measure, they can even spot Prabha's testicles. The process of decimation gets serious, folks. I mean really serious. Don't underestimate it.

Nature has been kind to our armed forces and the cause they fight against too; there wasn't a trace of cloud cover in sight.

Unless God Murugan that Prabha worships so devotedly, comes down in the form of an old school master while wielding a menacing cane in his hand, and gives a lash or two to MR, the bloody movement he leads, is at the gate of peril.

The presence of peace hawkes in the sky is, indeed, bad omens.

From his 'resume' so far.... to me he looks and sounds like a man of his word.
So, I have no reservations about the continuation of military onslaught on LTTE pigs.

If I were the president... I'll go to extra-ordinary lengths to destroy LTTE... for the simple fact... that they attacked Gota... It's so personal! Just like GW Bush saw to it that Sadham Hussain was hanged high... because for the fact that he tried to assassinate GW Bush's dad…

To what length GW Bush went to get his target is really fascinating... and included lot of fabrications and fairytales about non-existent WMD, connections to Bin Laden etc.... and shock and awe!

It was so PERSONAL... that even UN could not stop the man.

If you would look at the Vanni videos of newly captured LTTE territory, you can see the massive destruction that they have caused by felling hundreds and thousands of trees to build bunkers.

LTTE as usual talking through their a*se about environment.

As you have seen the UAV footage, you may realize that how easy task it would be for the UAVs to pinpoint LTTE arti and mortar positions if properly used.

If the coordination is there, it would be a matter of few minutes that the Arti and Mortar positions being neutralized.

  22. I am copying this post from SenaM

"This hurried visit from senior Indian Defence Ministry officials seems to 'ties-in' with the recent statement from the Norwegian Foreign Minister .. about their respecting Sri Lanka's territorial integrity etc. What all of this 'tells' us is that GOSL forces are 'closing-in' on the LTTE 'core elements' .. they all see, the 'end is nigh' for VP and other 'hard-liners' in the LTTE. LTTE has to transform itself into a poitical entity (much ike the JVP 'had to do') in the face of 'certain defeat', militarily. Believe, the high-powered Indian team as come in to see what they can do to help in this 'transformation'.

The LTTE was a carefully crafted 'weapon' of Indian origin .. intended to 'hold-down' our economic advancement .. distract us from off-shore exploration for oil & gas .. cause virtual separation along ethnic lines .. generally to 'weaken' us as a 'Nation'. Only problem was the man they chose to 'support' .. to lead the LTTE .. refused to 'tow their line' .. wanted to 'go his own way', and when 'confronted', turned savagely on the Indian Army .. and then to their horror, went on to kill Rajiv Gandhi, 'head-strong' Indian leader, who incidentally may have 'had a hand' in a lot of the Indian 'shenanigans' in Sri Lanka. A case of 'poetic justice' .. perhaps.

Seems to me .. they all (including the Indians), mis-judged MR's gutsy resilience, and the fighting qualities of the Sinhala people. (Because they are ready to smile .. and largely 'place their faith' in a pacifist religion, the Sinhalese were thought to be 'un-equal' to meet the challenge levelled at them by the savage VP, complete with his 'brain-washed' suicidally inclined soldiery). "
    http://www.lankanewspapers.com/news/2008/6/29444_4.html?

Nevertheless, these three top officials are in their retirement stage, and it may be a possibility that LTTE offered them $5M each to put a halt to GOSL's advancements.

$15M is very cheap compared to the $Billions of investments that both the parties already invested on this conflict.

Last time when I went to India, the Hospital Security Guard also asked me a bribe to visit a friend in normal visiting hours.... Bribing is so common in India, it is considered absolutely normal..

Yes guys, our traffic police can not still beat them.

Bruce Fein has served as associate Deputy Attorney General in the Department of Justice; as counsel to then Congressman Dick Cheney on a joint House-Senate investigating committee; and, as an author, newspaper columnist and broadcast commentator on every significant issue confronting the United States and the international community for four decades.

With his 40 years' experience as the ultimate insider in Washington and a network of several hundred that spans all branches of government, the media, think tanks, and academia, he is uniquely gifted and experienced to give expression to the Tamils' grievances in the corridors of power in Washington and electronic and print media.

He is well versed in the oppression that afflicts the Tamils under the current government and their legitimate aspirations for a separate state after grim decades of pervasive and odious discrimination.

Mr. Fein's international experience is unsurpassed, especially in the area of federalism or new statehoods, for example, Kashmir, Cyprus, Spain, and Sudan.

--With the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the State Department.

He is clearly well placed to make a positive impact when presenting issues relating to Tamils in Sri Lanka.

**Bruce Fein because of his close working relationship and influence with major networks and print media, will be able to publish and present Tamil issues (one-page ad on NY Times cost $160K).

**We individuals/organizations do not have to file for crimes against the Tamils by the GOSL ministers/officials who are US citizens. Bruce Fein can work with the DOJ and provide information and legal analysis and if admissible evidence against the GOSL ministers, justice will be served.

    1. ALL THE NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES OF INDIA have teamed up with china

    2. maldives and sri lanka haven't

    3. china's attempts to build a port in south SL (subject to its happening??) will complete what was termed a 'neclace of beads'.

    4. whenever china is involved, india has quitely withdrawn.

    5. if india tries to interfere in SL too much SL should plead china/pakistan/bangladesh/indonesia to set up bases here. upon an invititation it would be VERY difficult for them NOT TO DO SO.

    6. anyway excpet SL and maldives all the other india's neighbours have done so already. it's no big deal.

    7. at least india should be told that we will do so UNLESS they keep their dirty hands off SL.

    8. there is a possibility that LTTE becomes china's cat's paw to screw south india. china already finances maoist rebels in india through nepal and burma. NORINCO a chinese weapons manufacturer has HEAPS of sales to the LTTE. this indicates that SL cannot rely on the present RELATIVE diplomatic importance it places on india and china. we have to manage them right. losing military ties with china or losing military ties with india will be a choice SL will have to make SOON, i think. if we make the wrong choice, even our existing friends, pakistan, bangla, etc. WILL desert us.

  32. Scenario for an LTTE counter attack

Here is what my 2 cents idiot brain tells me.(modified version)

LTTE will mount a massive counter attack on the SLA lines where the current fighting is NOT taking place..SLA needs to be very vigilent about this scenario. This will trap battle hardned SLA men behind enemy lines. SLA needs to think about the plan B in case that happens. They need to check the assets already over used during the last 2 years in the North and East. They need to prepare for the LTTE' elite formations(whatever left of it now) for a counter attack. SLA is in LTTE's back yard and are more vulnerable to LTTE attacks. LTTE knows every inch of the land they previously occupied. Therefore it is possible a massive LTTE counter attack will reverse the last 1 and half years of gains in matter of days.History prooves that this happened not only to the SLA but other superrior armies in the world. As I said its time for SLA to take stock of the strategy, assets, battle preparedness of the men. Of those, the latter matters most.It is those valient men who will save the day for us. These valient men will face fresh LTTE fighters who will die for Velu. Velu also knows that our frontline forces are tired though battle hardneed after 2 years of fighting. While LTTE elite forces are fresh and they are being rested in Wanni for a massive attack. It is time for the SLA to think before the next big push..We need more intelligence on LTTE plans, their assets , no of caders etc etc. They need to find LTTE's appocalypse scenario.SLAF needs to be more proactive..SLN needs to counter LTTE attacks..They can't keep loosing their vital assets.

Constant UAV survillence over the LTTE territory is a must at this stage. All those civilians who are escaping from Wanni is big source of information.Their common knowledge of the territory may be enough to avert major disasters in Wanni.

One more thing that kept coming at me is the following..

It is possible LTTE might use
secret underground tunnels built in Wanni to infiltrate the SLA lines as they advance into LTTE territory.Their is a possibility LTTE will attack the SLA from front and behind. That is the worst case scenario.

In the South all must be vigilent for any LTTE attacks.

I just wrote what I came to my mind.

Sorry for the repeat of the same thing, again and again.

Mysterious death of 15 young SLN recruits in Delft

    TamilNet, Friday, 20 June 2008, 22:40 GMT

More than 15 young Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recruits between 16 to 20 years of age were found dead following a mysterious shooting incident in their camp, last Monday in Delft (Neduntheevu), the farthest island off Jaffna. Unconfirmed reports allege collective suicide due to frustration caused by isolation and harsh training. Before the incident, the trainees had conveyed their frustrations to reliable outside sources. Thy were reportedly deceived by their recruiters that they were to be trained in South, but had been brought to Nedunththeevu in the North.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to Kayts in the early hours of Tuesday. But, no judicial inquiry was conducted.

Gunshots were heard Monday night in the SLN base.

The SLN is reported to have alleged an LTTE attack for the death of the 15 recruits.

After the successful Sea Tiger raid on Neduntheevu in May 2007, the SLN has extended and strengthened its fortifications in the island and is believed to be using it as a training base.

  40. SLA needs to avoid "The Stalingrad" type massacre when 200000 German soldiers were surrounded by the Red Army(95000 died in the end with the biggest defeat to the Germans in WW2). At the begining of the war, the Western governments virtually written off the Russian Red Army after witnessing the France was defeated in 6 weeks by the marruding German units.Even today, the Western countries thinking in those terms that Russia can be defeated in a war. The Russians love their country when it comes to war.Whatever the circumstances, they have that mentality to fight to the last man.
In 1942 odds were like this..

3 Million German Army soldiers invaded Russia on 1500 wide Front. The Operation Blitskrieg the Germans called it and were aiming to capture Moscow in 8 Weeks..

The Russians don't have the defeatist mentality of the UNF government in Sri Lanka, which in 2003 almost cost us the country.

Thanks to the Russians, the Germans were defeated..The number of Russian soldiers died in the WW2was over 20 Million and still counting.(yes they don't know the exact figure after 60 years).

Every Russian love to talk about the War.

  41. Well, we need to understand that LTTE simply can't let the current trend continue. LTTE try hard to stop SLA offensive in the battlefield but now they know it is impossible. Slowly but surely SLA is moving forward and around 10 caders die daily. But LTTE has to do something. There can't be any question about it.

    1. Sucide attack on MR/GR/GenSF
    2. KAB/AAb type attack

will be ideal since it takes minimum of thier resources but high results. But on the other hand these kind of attacks takes long time on planning and it seems MI is giving a hard time for LTTE too.

    3. Unceased wave

resulting high SLA casualties and loss of area is the best for LTTE in the battlefield. But it seems SLA has made this option too, too hard for LTTE. But LTTE has to fight a decesive battle at some point.

Thus LTTE do cheap things just to keep di-ass-pora happy and expecting some mistake from GSL or public in south. Easyily seen

    4. Civilian killings (expecting 83)

    5. Attacking small posts manned by 8-10 men
(and give the publicity like they got EPS)-the diasspora who were thrilled when LTTE got EPS now get the same trill when LTTE attack such a small post or kill 20-30 civilians!!!

6.Carry out some attacks inside SLA territory
(Killing a cop in trinco by pistol gang, vavnia, mannar etc and give publicity similer to AAB attack)-Objective is to convince di-ass-pora LTTE is still strong, they can even make things bad in GSL areas.

    7.Other fronts NGO mafia/HR/int.media etc

recent events in Italy, France, UK etc clearly says how desperate is LTTE now and how hard they try to keep di-ass-pora with them.

Bruice Feian's lobbying indicates what the future LTTE stratergy is. After loosing the ground battle obviously LTTE will start 'seperation' battle again in diplomatic level. BF is now making the ground like Chelvanayagam did in 60/70s. I am pretty sure about our guys in SLA. However I am seroiusly beleive we need to refomulate our diplomatic missions.

  52. Mysterious death of 15 young SLN recruits in Delft
    Friday, 20 June 2008, 22:40 GMT
More than 15 young Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recruits between 16 to 20 years of age were found dead following a mysterious shooting incident in their camp, last Monday, in Delft (Neduntheevu), the farthest island off Jaffna. Unconfirmed reports allege collective suicide due to frustration caused by isolation and harsh training. Before the incident, the trainees had conveyed their frustrations to reliable sources. The trainees were reportedly deceived by their recruiters that they were to be trained somewhere in the South of Sri Lanka, but had been brought to Nedunththeevu in the North.

Gunshots were heard Monday night in the SLN base.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to Kayts in the early hours of Tuesday. But, no judicial inquiry was conducted.

The SLN is reported to have alleged an LTTE attack for the death of the 15 recruits.

After the successful Sea Tiger raid on Neduntheevu in May 2007, the SLN has extended and strengthened its fortifications in the island and is believed to be using it as a training base.

  53. War Deaths in Sri Lanka is not 61,000

    It is 215,000 now!
    19 06 2008
Wars around the globe killed three times more people during the second half of the 20th century than previously estimated, according to a new study, published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ).
Some 5.4 million deaths caused by armed conflicts occurred between 1955 and 2003 in 13 nations surveyed, ranging from a low of 7,000 in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 3.8 million killed in Vietnam.

Previous research, based on media reports or before-and-after census figures, have tended to severely underestimate war-related fatalities among both combatants and civilians, the new study argues.

The figure for Sri Lanka jumped from 61,000 to 215,000, a 3.6-fold increase.

You bring us good news, then. Thank you for your care.

If the subtle pleasure at someone's misery is raised to the sphere of morals, the vice takes the form of a wriggly worm, I warn you.

Now, go to the nearest loo, have a look at that ugly hole, that you sometimes use as your alternate mouth, and make sure it is well sealed against that unwelcome entrance.

I see your vulnerability to a life-embarassing infection.

If you are forced to scratch that end in public, much more frequently than you do now, don't make us, the Sinhalese, the scapegoats. We, the legend says, are descendents from a lion, who devour goats, not symbolize them, if you feel ignorant in that department.

  59. puli asked,

    "What is poison?"

I think this the lubricant that our macho brother, OAO Asthiri with an ocean of energy, had in his possession, when he took strides towards the bedroom of those who brought you to this world, but when your dad was absent - may be in Tigers' meeting.

Time and again, our dear brother said here what he used it for. So, going beyond this point is just - ditto.

However, this maker of this particular lubricant, that is ideal for middle aged women, to apply for where they feel very dry, hasn't applied for a patent yet.

If you are willing, you can make a move in that direction.

But remember the golden rule, mate:

Make an investment in stupidiy, and the dividends come in packets of farce.

    Guys,

This is an another illustration that the supply of money to the outfit is dwindling.

Look, here; they are now opening banks, all over Vanni.

Unfortunately, most customers are poor, barefooted little boys and girls. I see the big brutes in the movement, handing out savings books for these kids.

This shows deperation for money. This move must be condemned - the day light robbery of the little kids of the meagre means they have.

This bank - Tamil Eelam Bank - does not have a logo. It is a bit strange, isn't it? They need one.

I hit upon an idea; Just look at this clip, take the last few frames and turn them into a still picture.

The post-mating scenario of two wild dogs is the perfect logo for this partiular bank, that hasn't got one. Its message is this, simple yet powerful in itt own right: easy to put in, difficult to take out. Highly appropriate, especially during hard times.

  61. Guys,

Defencenet, just confirmed the story about the death of 15 sailors is false.

I see moves, not only in here, on the web, and of course some of our media too, to mislead us.

The peace overtures that we now hear are an integral part of that futile exercise. These are not accidents, but a part of well-planned psychological operation.

Yesterday, Reurters saw a sudden revival of our stock market; then there were news about the defence delegation.

I am glad now we have a leader who has a backbone that doesn't buckle under pressure. This is the point of this menace, where all our previous leaders failed - when they embraced the ceasefire, when a wounding Tiger cryied out for it. Some paid their price in life and some in what was left of their dignity.

This president is not for turning, so is the prime minister. Both made it loud and clear - lay down the arms or no ceasefire.

India knows its limits; let's not make that great nation our latest bogey man.

Why do we give a new lease of political life to Somavansa Amarasinghe for his survival?

Let's take peace moves with a pinch of salt, folks. Don't get serious or appear to be serious.

You inadvertently play into their hands - the tiger den, if you like.

  70. Our Women - and the security impact on them

Our women may not be the prettiest in the world, but the warmest, I would say. Women command respect in any culture, except in the regions, that are under the Taliban rule. Taliban beat the hell out of them, if they don't cover fully or catch them in the street on their own.

How did this gentle creatures come into being in the first place?

The simple answer is: "I don't know."

However, the Holy Bible, in its first book - the Genesis - sheds some light on it.

The good Lord, God, first created Adam, the man, and placed him in the Garden of Eden, and then felt sorry for the guy; because he was lonely.

Then out of sympathy for the poor guy, put him into a deep slumber, took a rib from his chest cage, and turned that into a woman; Eve was born.

So, Adam got his companion, Eve. They were on their own in the Garden of Eden. What they did next is material for pornography; I must stop at it.

However, the chain of events that followed, did anger the Almighty. Eve was punihsed and that punishment was made hereditary and eternal, for generations to come.

Women who suffer for few days every month, after attain their puberty up until menopause and when they go into labour, know very well the gravity of that punishment.

Under these circumstances, how do we justify making their suffering even worse, when we should be doing just the opposite?

News reaching my ears indicates they are not just scared, but petrified, because some are sole bread winners of the family.

The brutes who blow up these gentle creatures or threaten them with similar nasty surprises are worse than the SS of the Nazis.

Heinrich Himler who was the head of notoriously brutal Gestapo, the secret police of the Nazis, was not a genious. A diminitive figure by German standard, with an average height of a pigmy, was actually a chicken farmer.

When Hitler decided to exterminate Jews, Himler did not have a clue as to how to go about it. So, the idiot just did the obvious: made the hapless people digging their own graves, then shooting at them at the edge of them. The bulldozer finished this macabre operation by covering the pits with soil.

However, even the hard men of SS could not cope with the stress; some got really traumatized by these activities and it took its toll on many officers and soldiers. Nazism was not a religion, after all - a self-deprecating ideology. These perpetrators had an established religon - Catholism. So, the religious sentiments may have troubleD them or even haunted them.

On failing this mode of operation, Himler came up with gassing. It was a substitute born out of necessity.

Do our brutes of the LTTE show any sign of exhaustion - mental, emotional or sentimental? Not really.

I proved my point; they are worse than the Nazis.

So, sympathaisers, be ready to go into history books, as the bloodiest ever brutes in the world!

Well..it's just another stunt by sneaky Indian feds to hoodwink the slave Indian Tamils who are after all care less about Eelam Tamils. If they want political solution, why do they send the "defense delegation"? For years, they have been secretly giving training and hardware to SLDF, meantime they issue crocodile cries to Tamils, and one thing for sure, Indians are very concerned about the military strength between LTTE and SLDF. They do not like any kind of parity between LTTE and SLDF, which ultimately bring unwanted results for them, so they always prefer SLDF have the upper hand. These fucking indians do not give 2 cents about what's happening in SL as long as they get favorable results like prolonging civil war, so that they can maintain their geo-political interests are well served. You do not need to go further than Bollywood that why these indians are excelling in acting, now they take their art of skill into politics.

  74. Tamils need role models of their own likes of intellectuals, musicians, sportsman and billionaires to get their word heard globally, not the Bruce Fein, who will hardly make any different at this political juncture other than milking money from Tamils.

Obama or Mccain hardly give damn about SLankan issues when their hands are full with the current US economy, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan cards. As it happens, Obama made promises to Ohio people in his democratic primary campaign that he will cancel the NAFTA agreement, so that Americans no need to worry about the jobs which lost to NAFTA. In return, current Canadian PM, Stephen Harper came up strong that Canadians are fine with whatever decisions US take on NAFTA , but our oil will be sold in higher price to China, until today US is the only buyer to our Canadian oil in cheaper price according to NAFTA agreement. He hit the nail on the oil hungry Americans, now Obama made 360 somersault that he will honor the NAFTA agreement. So using Bruce Fein as lobbiest won't help Tamils in the longer run unless they have someone constantly get the message to the world likes of what Israel is good at- intellectual terrorism. In our case, we are fighting for our justice.

  78. Bhairav,

You sound like a beaten man; I don't poke fun at it, because it is wrong.

At least, you have realized why all this went terribly wrong.

Yes, some of us, a tiny minority though, did commit a shameful thing that makes blush us for generations to come.

You folks, left the your country in droves and took abode in alien countries. Some prospered, while some just tried to exist.

In the mean time, some of them, again a minority, pinned their hopes on foreigners: parliamentarians, lobbyists, lawyers, clergy, Amnesty International, and even the dear old UN. They did everything in their power to discredit the nation and its people with the paint brush of evil. They thought they were in the great game of propaganda.

At times, they became really vicious; the country, and its people of all communities were on their knees.

Dr Josef Goebells invented modern progaganda. Upto a certain point, he was very successful indeed, and so was his movement. Then what happened. It all came to zero, didn't it?

When something is based on a mountain of lies and deception, it cannot go on for ever. It is a natural thing; every major religion says truth is eternal. They all can't be wrong.

LTTE failed because it tried to build a nation on the pillars of negatives - lies, deception, brute force and killings. These are not well-known materials for structural strength.

Yes, people like Bruce Fein made a lot of money out of your misery. He is not the only one. A lot of policians, bureaucrats both local and foreign did the same. You can stop ants when you keep the honey pot in the open.

These parasites saw the Tigers, or their coffers as a potential money tree and got closer to it. That is their nature.

Sri Lankans are a family; never take family affairs outside of that sphere. Outsiders have their own agenda.

By the way, I will be really thankful to you if you tell me the South Asian nation that the Tamilnet takes a swipe at, in its leading article. Is that India or Pakistan? I don't know why they beat about the bush, without being explicit. There is not much of a choice - it can't be Bangladesh, the flood-stricken poor folks.

  80. Re: the story of alleged deaths of SLN sailors….

It is impossible for any soldier to take their own life even in the most difficult of situations. If they indeed die of gun shots, it must have been an attack. But I believe DN that this story is nothing but cow dung.

Even the most basic training/disciplne a soldier gets makes him/her so tough that this type of “soththi” actions don’t even enter their minds. “How do you know?” I hear you ask. Patriots, let me let a cat I had in the bag for all this time, out. I have been there and I know it by experience! I was part of the SLA for 6 years with regimental number **696. Many of my comrades have given their lives for my pukka land. I have kept this close to my chest for a long time, but this “collective suicide” rubbish pushed me to assure you from personal experience that IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for a group of hardened soldiers to take their lives in this fashion; it is the ultimate insult you can level at a soldier, that he took his own life out of desperation. One of my fellow soldiers who was involved with the great rescue of Jaffna died of blood poisoning after drinking sea water while being drifted in a dinghy. Some others who drifted with him were rescued in the ocean near Thailand. None of them even thought of taking their lives though they had to endure physical and emotional desperation of the highest degree; a level of desperation that is unfathomable by an average human being. So there…

    Grious,

To cut it short, I tell you something which I witnessed through my eyes.

Densil Gobekaduwa led army operation had killed 400+ of our village people, including my classmate and few relatives in 1990 when the army moved from Kayts to Mandaitivu to save the army personnels who stationed at Jaffna fort. The way my classmate and my relatives killed were brutal. My classmate and myself used to share the same dorm at JHC hostel, and he was the elder son out of 5 siblings , his family was supported by his widow mother. Few army personnels got hold of one of my relatives then hit hard his head on the coconut tree, some of his head parts were thrown on the floor and died instantly. I left the country following year.

You guys may go on like LTTE did this and that etcetra etcetra. One thing you should know that you guys started it and we countered to prevent any further killings. I condemn strongly any killings of innocent people, sadly we can only pray for the victims bcoz we are always powerless.

This may be one way to respond. Another angke is to understand why LTTE put a lot of weight on symbols. We remember in CFA honymoon period raising LTTE flag in GSL areas was a big issue and decided as a violation of CFA.

LTTE need this kind of symbol

    1. Just to keep tamil di-ass-pora under one flag (After anpther generation di-ass-pora speak English, Germen, French for sure but may not be tamil.)

    2. It is easy to express the messege to out the side world

    3. It will give some thrill to di-ass-pora and exam dreamers. (Imagine you go to a street, raise this flag, enjoy, shout etc.)

    4. This suggest 'we have a flag, so we must have a country too, why not?'

    5. This kind of issues are importent since future stratergy is now based on international begging method (not the natioanl level begging done for 50 years in SL) after realizing (after 30 years and 30000 mahveeris went to ezam) that military cum terrorst struggle is FAILED.

However this flag which they now say a symbol of tamils is the official symbol/flag of LTTE. History of LTTE is 30 years. Thus history of this so called tamil symbol also 30 years.

  95. Asi,

Thanks buddy. No, the honour is all mine and I am humbled by the esteem I am shown. You too do your fare share of supporting and boosting the morale of those who have a burden to see our nation released from LTTE terrorism.

I would not call myself a die-hard patriot, but anyone with a decent conscience should feel a loyalty to their mother nation; that loyalty I do have. My military training just built on that. We were trained to recognise the same loyalty the enemy has for his nation (or cause) and to respect that. When the enemy shows no respect even for their own cause (by killing other Tamil Srilankans) then we lose our respect for them. We have no choice but to take them out (with extreme prejudice).

Yes, I am looking forward to the day we can once again travel to the North in true freedom (for that great party or just visiting friends). When we can buy property and live anywhere in our Pukka Land like the Srilankan Tamil people have done for 100s of years. I am looking forward to have true freedom in my own country, within her sovereign borders, just as my fellow Srilankan Tamil people have enjoyed for years and are still enjoying.

    Am I expecting too much?

  96. Speaking of LTTE cells in the south…Here is a story that I trust many of you don’t know…

I once had house in Ratmalana (which I purchased as an investment as it was owned by a buddy of mine who was leaving SL to Australia) and then I gave this house to a known party to live in (free of charge basically as they were friends of a friend in the US) whose son also happened to be in the SLA.

Now this house was close to the Ratmalana airport/airbase. Soon after I had bought it and this family had moved in, I kept in touch with that family and once I heard a strange, but eerie story…

whenever the son came home on leave and he got together with other SLA/SLN/SLAF boys in the neighborhood and just congregated at the Galle Rd junction and just walked around the neighborhood for fun & frolic (as young guys do usually) once at dusk (around 6-7 pm), they came across some guys bathing in a culvert near the fence of the Ratmalana base perimeter. Now what struck them as odd was that this was not a place to be bathing in as the water was not hygienic. When they once told the bathers that they should not be bathing there, the 3-4 guys had mumbled in Sinhela that they were really not bathing and they were in there to have fun.

Well, the SLA braveheart and his friends saw this on more than once occasion and they (being smart cookies they were), once hid and observed the bathers for a long time and then when the bathers came out and scattered (i.e. to go to their homes) they assured a braveheart followed each of those “culvert-boys” to his destination. Lo an behold, one such “sinhela” buggers went into a Tamil shop that was right about at the Ratmalana-Galle Rd junction and that’s when they put two-and-two together that these were really Tamils, pretending to be Sinhelas, and likely LTTE Tamil terrorists.

After that, immediately, they go the word out to the STF and the very next evening the STF raided the shop and the owner of the shop (not a “culvert boy” but later it was proven that he was the “handler” and also he was married to a Sinhela girl and I was told he spoke Sinhela well, although with a mild accent and pretended he was Muslim – many said he was the nicest “kaday mudalali” you could ever wish for as he was ever so friendly, ever so obliging and every so ready to give discounts to customers!) ran upstairs in a panic and the bugger just managed to get his hand on a pistol and a Cyanide vial when a STF dude who also rushed up with him, basically bashed his cheekbones with the butt of his T-56. Thereafter the bastard was hauled down (blood pouring from his now broken face) to a waiting STF vehicle and taken away and in a matter of an hour, they caught all the rest of the “culvert boys.” Then the story came out later that these “culvert boys” were there actually taking pics of the airbase and marking time until they had the RPG/AA ordnance to shoot down the SLAF Kfirs that were taking off from that base and later STF indeed find some of the RPG munitions that were buried in the culvert, sealed in polythene!

Now there is a success story… (and I did reward the braveheart’s family handsomely well as my own appreciation, but will not go into unwanted details here) all Sri Lankans must be vigilant like this at all times!

So, LTTE motherfuckers, I guess you always thought how did that cell get busted? Well, now I told you…so go rape that Jaffna goat to drown you sorrows!

Well, first of all, do not hurt OaOA’s feelings with such language. After all, here I am a proud Ruhuney Sinhela dude who did your mother upside-down first and then downside-up although she was as close to the “Dark-Medusa” you can get…all for the sake of “ethnic harmony” …and although I did go “upside down” on her, that certainly does not make me a “faggot”…!!! 110. All it is, is that SLA is now all new, fresh fighters. There are aging ones who only remember the horrors of Elephant Pass, Kilinochi and Mulaithivu battles.... Those older soldiers were also given the hope of immediate victory over the LTTE, before that was shattered by the sudden launch of military offensives in the place of just plain resistance for a long time.

We must notice that, many of our SLA men dying are really young fighters forced in there so they can become experienced fighters. The positive side is that these new recruits from poor villages have no clue about the misery faced by older army units. So they go marching in believing in the words of their commanders and their lies.

The good thing is that the SLA and the entire force as a whole has memory loss. This enables them to forget the old losses and move on thinking they can win again. Unfortunately they do not study their history and realize what to expect from the LTTE. Sure, we have DPUs and some advantages this time around, but the battle situation on the ground is exactly the same as it was before in the past, right before the LTTE launched massive assaults at lightening speed and forced the government to come to peacetalks.

The dumping of SLA bodies unknown to both the fellow comrades and the army man's family is really saddening. This is just to keep up the morale of the army and focus them on the few inches of land they achieve and not the high cost of lives going down the drain ..literally.

So be careful this time, watch for the sudden shift in the tide, and even more careful this time since as the tide turns, Bruce Fien is also in there in the political level to get a separate state of Tamil Eelam. Last time they came back with offensives and enforced a ceasefire. This time, a seperate state? Is this their plan? Because right now, to the world, it was us who abrogated the ceasefire and restarted the war. I think they expected this, that's why they publicly said, they support the CFA. Now when we are faced with another elephant pass like scenario as in 2000,... we will be in deep trouble since, this timr around, they won't ask for peacetalks. We are also shunned from the west and have bad diplomatic ties. Our stupid leaders became friends with Iran, Pakistand and China... and alienated the west. This is a bad move.... any suggestions?

  117. Some food for thought.

"The internationalists are divisible into the Westernisers, the Easternisers and the Non- aligned or Third Worldists. The Westernisers or the West-centric are overawed by the West, and see Sri Lanka’s role as being allied to the West. They see themselves as friends of, but in reality play the role of puppets (some colourful and prominent, some colourless) and servitors of the West. This tendency is generically identified with the UNP, with the prominent exception of the Premadasa period (the Mahathirian foreign policy of which as best set out by Bradman Weerakoon in an essay in the Economic Review)."

This is Tigers' way of saying to the wider world that buisness is as usual.

I see Mr Nadesan's participation in all of them.

However, if you look at a picture of him in high-resolution and use your instincts of basic psychology, you see the worry lines criss-crossing all over his face. A forced smile cannot hide the travail of a beaten soul.

Mr Nadesan is not an evil man, folks. He used to wear the infamous uniform when he was the head of the so-called Tiger Police.

However, there is no evidence to suggest his participation in combat operations. The absence of a title - Brigadier downwards - implies just that.

I would say he is a lucky man, of course until now. Because he is related to Prabhakaran.

Mr Nadesan is married to a Sinhalese Buddhist woman from Matara, who lives in Vanni along with their offspring.

What are the options left for him, when Vanni falls eventually?

He won't remain there; he might slip through the net towards the south, cashing in on her wife's contacts.

I am not living in Sri Lanka; however, if I bumped into them, say on Galle road, I may show them a bush to hide behind, out of sympathy. I will let them get away with it.

However, I will not extend that kindness to two other eminent folks: Balakumaran and Rev Rayappu.

The former must be sent to Hague as a war criminal. He was instumental in killing the Singhalese civilians in the eighties by a bombing spree, before Prabhakaran made it more efficient.

He is a man who is up to something. This guy dyes his hair in black and keeps the beard in white.

Is he about to change the appearance at a moment's notice?

He can shave his beard and become Mr Nice Guye or shave his head and become Yogi-the-Banishment.

He is a man on a fence; we must do everything in our power to make it a knife edge - this bastard does not deserve a post-war peaceful life.

The next folk - ha ha - is Rev Rayappu, the man of political prayers. Where is he? Where is the statue? Neither is to be seen.

What do we do with this rogue-in-the-robes in the event of him being caught?

The cosmetic transformation must take place in the following order, I insist:

Derobe the rascal and turn him into Mr Rayappu, first. Remove his trousers and shirts, except the suspender, and turn him into mere Rayappu. Make a wooden cross, erect it in Killinochchi town, stick the rascal on the cross using supe glue until he confesses where he kept the statue all these months and then bring him down, throw him into a well and cleanse him of all the sins he committed.

I don't advocate nailing him on to the cross in King Herod's style because it is cruel.

Then we can write to the Pope about the cleansing proces. It is upto the Holy Father and the Vatican whether to keep him or kick him out.

This is the tale of three folks, in Vanni, mates. Tell this to your kids, if you can't put them to sleep at night. It has a ring of a bed-time story.

Tamils in South Africa on Saturday gathered for Pongku Thamizh rally at the Arena Park Regional Hall, in Chatsworth, where they pledged to support the Eezham Tamils' right to statehood, and urged the international community to voice for the Tamils’ rights.

Are we heading for a parippu scene again?

No, mate far from it. Just read between the line, mate.

India is acting; what else they can do? They just borrow a chapter from legendary Bharat Natya, for the time being.

I think our ambassadors in South Africa must be made accountable for the Nadagam that take place in that part of the world.

If our High Commissioner in India can silent critics there, why that man/woman can't it there? There is a serious mission failure there.

I don't know who, what and how that country made hostile to us this badly.

I think the individual who occupies that seat of our mission, should know the need of the growth of a spine.

He's been on the ZTTE's payroll for a long time now. If you check tamiznet, you'll see his name appearing there on almost a regular basis. He's in the same level as Kumar Rupasinghe etc. (or maybe a bit higher), also he seems to be a relative of our glorious ex-president Chandrika.... If you want a sample of his BS, you can find it in youtube.

Northern Indianers continued to get best out of slave Tamilnadu Tamils who are vital part of Indian economy and TN is number one industrial state in whole India, meantime these northerners treat Tamils as trash, most of the blame should go to scumbag politicians of TN which was lately ruled by mega womanizer MGR, then come the one of his mistresses and hoe, Jeyalalitha, then senior citizen Karuna who now grooms his rapist son to throne TN CM position. Lately Hindi is also mandatory course in many TN schools.

That's something I agree with you 100%. That's more realistic (the state is already there... all you need is declaration of independence)and most of the Tamil Speaking Sri Lankans would have supported that move.

SriLankan Tamils shouldn't be home wrecker to Indian Tamils who continued to be happy in a state where they can build temples for actors and actress, meantime they care less about disappearing Tamil culture.

At this state, we Eelam Tamils should only worry about ourselves.

Very well spoken! Spoken like a true ghettoized racist/communalist!

This is exactly what happened in Sri Lanka too - when these bastards' forefathers refused to learn the language of the majority - the mother-language of the 80% of Sri Lankans.

No, but what was important for those filthy communalist bastards at time was to demand 50% of the GUARANTEED seats in the national parliament (for a Tamil minority that was barely 8% then)!!!

Keep going you frog-in-the well moron...fyi, all other states in India saw long ago the value of learning Hindi and had Hindi as a compulsory language in thier school curriculum and now they are seeing the value of it whereby they have joined in, with admirable ethnic harmony, to reap the benefits of the emerging "Indian Powerhouse."

Today I meet Indian businessmen, professionals, investors, etc. from all parts of India like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bengal, Andra, etc. etc. and when they are together although often the language they is us English, it is truly fine to see them switch to some Hindi too.

[The Special Bureau of the CID arrested six LTTE suspects, including a bomb expert and an ex-employee attached to the Colombo office of a popular UNP Tamil MP who regularly espouses the cause of human rights violations, disappearances and abductions in Sri Lanka. The suspects, assigned by the LTTE to explode bombs targeting innocent civilians were arrested at Wattala, the defence sources told the ‘Sunday Observer’.

The sources said that he had undergone training in LTTE camps and had close connections with Soosai, LTTE Sea Tiger leader.
Nadaraja was assigned by the UNP Tamil MP to gather information about disappearances, abductions and other human rights violations and to report them to the international community and the media while engaged in terrorist activities in the South. He had operated the propaganda campaign against Sri Lanka. ]

Although most of the people here are quite confident about the outcome of the visit (that our leaders will not allow any interference in our internal matters by them), I feel, as general public, we can't and shouldn't take a chance.
We should tell our leaders loud and clear that if they back off at this moment, for any reason, without completely wipping out the ltte, then they should also prepare themselves for the consequences (ie. just close your eyes and see how it would feel like being treated like Ranil.)

India nurtured, armed and trained LTTE and the Tamil terrorist movements. Then she provided protection to Prabharan and LTTE when they were getting beaten and about to be defeated. Now dejavou?

Shame on you India.. if you are doing the same thing again!!!

India should learn that there is NO Tamil problem in Sri Lanka. The problem we have is India nurtured LTTE going out of control.

BTW, comments from Indian delegation suggest that they ask not only LTTE, but also all the other Tamil parties also to rally around LTTE asking them to be unite.

What are these Kallathonies doing here?

  190. "No military solution for the ethnic problem" was always being the position of the Sri Lankan government. The same goes with India. Narayanan has a leaning towards Tamil nationalism. But I don't think he alone can make any policy shift.
So when they state that "India is against a military solution" it can quite possibly be about national problem (at least that's what I believe). Then why don’t they specifically say so? The answer is quite simple. The tamilnadu factor. India has to make tamilnadu politicians at bay. Narayanan has made worse comments not so distant past (especially after meeting tamilnadu politicians). But those did not result any observable policy shift against Sri Lanka.
As Qrious said earlier one has to read between the lines. And we should try to read the body language of all the players. I don't see anything untoward.
(And they had a discussion with president Rajapaksha. If somebody tells me that he had made Narayanan agree to be a UPFA candidate for the North Central Province I would still believe it.)
