Task Force 2 joins the battle

With Task Force 2 officially launching their first mission in the Wanni operation on the 17th of this month, there are now 5 divisions of the SLA laying the siege to Wanni from the southern border. The first offensive mounted by the Task Force 2 (TF2) was a success; the attack on the LTTE frontline on Mundirippu left 7 LTTE cadres dead where 2 bodies of slain cadres were recovered. Two brigades of the 61 division have also been deployed to battlefield.

The Special Task Force (STF) was able to arrest the leader of a credit card scam (identified as Nesanayagam Muruganayam) in Wellawatte last week. The suspect has confessed to have earned more than Rs 500 million from credit card fraud, of which the majority of the money was 'donated' to the LTTE. After the STF made the bust, the investigations were handed over to the CID. However the future of these investigation is not clear as suspect's links with several senior police officers in Mount Lavinia and Moratuwa have been found. There senior officers are allegedly discouraging the progress of the investigations. As we reported earlier, corruption on the part of  some high ranking police officials in Mount Lavinia and Moratuwa has only made LTTE operations in Colombo easier.

Meanwhile another senior LTTE operative was arrested in Colombo last week. This individual, who was once a director of the Film Corporation, is suspected to be a key figure behind all major LTTE bombings in Colombo in the recent past. Several more arrests were made following his confession, of which more details cannot be posted as of yet.

  2. Defence.lk Gobilas show their true racist colours

Should a Ministry website that runs by the tax payers’ money act racist? (NB. The tax payers in Sri Lanka are not just Sinhalese)

Should a ministry website that does not recognize it as a general news site run stories not relevant to its mandate?

Defence.lk Gobilas try their best to demonstrate their intention is only to present defence related news (Please note, in Sri Lanka ‘DEFENCE’ is synonymous with ‘WAR’) but unfortunately their true racist slip sometimes becomes too evident.

Can Defence.lk Gobilas tell us what the news story ‘Tamil Gangsters to be sentenced for murdering youth by stabbing – London’ has to do with the mandate of Defence Ministry?

There is no mention in the story the accused are Tamils of Sri Lankan origin. (Contrary to the loaded ‘news story’ in Defence.lk implies they are not yet ’sentenced’.) Perhaps the Defence.lk Gobilas do not know there are other countries from which Tamils migrate to UK. Even if they were Sri Lankan Tamils there is no evidence they are linked to LTTE. So how does the story of four Tamils in South London killing another of their own becomes a security concern for Sri Lanka?

So one of the following messages can be what Defence.lk wants to imply either intentionally or not.

    1. All Tamils abroad are gangsters. They also collect money for LTTE and kill those who don’t contribute
    2. Tamil abroad brings ‘bad name’ to Sri Lanka. They live dubious lives abroad.
    3. All Tamils are gangsters/terrorists. So the only way to attack terrorism is to attack Tamils.

However, I do not blame only the blind government for this. This is also the fault of Sri Lankan Tamils. As they have indicated in 2005 Presidential Election, the majority of Tamils of Sri Lankan origin does not want to be in the democratic arena. When they avoid voting they lose their influencing power. Ruling party knows that too well, and subjects Tamils to humiliation, knowing well they will not vote against.

That is why we see government websites like Defence.lk acting racist at the drop of hat. They aim for Sinhalese vote banks. They do not care for Tamil votes – which, in reality do not exist.

Unless we can bring all communities in Sri Lanka within the democratic framework, this will continue.

(PS. The term ‘Gobilas’ is used as the plural to connote the character of Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, from who the Defence.lk guys have learnt their first lessons.)

  9. I hear the patriots in Italy are disappointed with Prez for not thanking them for giving all the help to the police to nab the terrorists, while the ambassador took the credit. In UK too the feelings are same, but it was an effort by the HC and the patriots who have being doing good work and the Prez should have spent time with them.
It is time all political parties unite and support the gosl in finishing of the terror cells and their terror HQ in the North, as the peaceniks form of India and Norway once again trying to get involved in our internal affairs. We must not forget the parripu drop, violating the territorial integrity of the island and if they repeat it then gosl should postpone the SARC conference and enhance stronger ties with Pakistan and China.

You get it wrong, and your argument rings hollow, very hollow indeed.

Your point is its accusation of Tamil gang mebers as 'Tamil Gangsters'

A member who belongs to a gang is a gangster. If he belongs to a particular race, it becomes an adjective for the purpose of identification.

Yes, there are Sinhala gangs and we call them gangsters and if they co-exist with their Tamil counterparts, we don't hesitate to call them Sinhala gangsters. I dare you do it at your end; very unlikely, even if you notice blatant thuggery. Misplaced racial sentiments, folks.

Be plucky, reasonable and fair-minded if you want to take part in this great game of racial-harmony. Don't derail it. A generation paid a price, didn't they?

I do agree with you. but the current government cannot give a solution.. they are on war, what ever who ever said what. they may say we are willing to talk that and this its just to purify them selves ya.

first treat the rest of the people in a proper manner, Tamils are not only living in north and east there are ppl spread in up countries, or in south. treat them in such manner so they will kick LTTE's ass if they do so, dont blame ltte and fight with them, first clean the root and do the rest. there has to be a clear foundation to tamils, boru sakachcha is to show the world doesn't work sir.

just think a simple scenario, this issue is there about 2 decades rite?

i went to get a birth certificate copy of my daughters to colombo secretariat office near vishaka school, and i got a form to apply for a additional copy, just for fun i asked for a tamil form, they don't have, even a english form they dont have, see (in my case i am fine with all three language) when a real tamil person from wella also entitled to the same secretariat division, so they have to run behind a sinhalese person to get the application filled, cos there is no tamil person to read at the counter. tamils are mostly using english so its a advantage to tamils. else, then what to do?

if they go and beg from a sinhalese to fill the form, they will talk with them self like "demalu/kotiyo methana ewith apita wadakaranawa".

i have seen so many occations like this even in pettah ctb bus stand.

One day i went to get the details to gampola bus on a long holiday, there is a peson who is planning additional buses to out stations, one bus driver said, mahaththaya mawa hetton rout ekata danna, senaga pirila innawa" u know what he told that person, yako demalu ohoma hitapu deng ung kegahanne ne umba palayang matarata, driver said ane sir senaga nene, officer said hukanne nethuwa palayang methaning...

see the thing running in ppl's mind.. now a days sinhalese/buddhists hates tamils (most of them) even at my place the same.. my FIL & MIL does the same.. i newer get a chance to watch shakthi TV, if i did so they will go away.

have to put the theory rite to fight prove the govt. non of the tamils don't care this GOVT (few like B# does) i voted for CBK, damn bitch, she did nothing to sinhalese or to tamils, she brought the $ from 55 to 110 that's the great thing she did...

these govt are working for their own will, not for sri lanka or for sri lankans, Mawapanawa witharai. like Huggediya jathiwadi politics.. do you think ppl in maharagama will vote for JHU? unless katahari heththuwunoth goda neththang jabok.

Lankikayo kalakanni cos of Politicians. all (sing/Tam) ppl can live to gather not the politicians.

this is the reason the people in overseas funding even if they don't come back.

  14. The events of July 1983 are poignant for the entire Tamil population around the world. Between July 24 and 29, Tamils were systematically targeted with violence in Colombo and many other parts of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan Governments officials categorized the violence as uncontrollable race riots instigated by the killing of 13 Sinhala soldiers on the night of July 23. However, history and the course of events during Black July illustrate the Sri Lankan Government’s undeniable involvement in the genocidal acts against Tamils.

July 24 (Day 1): At 1 o’clock in the morning of July 24, the army rounded up hundreds of Tamils in Trincomalee, Mannar, and Vavuniya in the Northeast who had fled the anti-Tamil riots of 1977 and 1981. These Tamils were forcibly taken and left without possessions in the central hills.

Before the riots broke out in Colombo, the army in Jaffna went on rampage killing 51 innocent Tamil civilians. In Trincomalee, similar violence broke out as members of the Navy randomly shot at civilians and burnt down Tamil property.

In the evening in Colombo, the state funeral was being organized for the soldiers. Thousands of people arrived at the cemetery but the bodies failed to appear. After waiting several hours, much of the crowd objecting the burial in Kanatte and demanded the bodies to be returned to the next of kin. As the large crowd began to leave the grave, a new group of people (identified as government gangs) entered the Borella junction and raised anti–Tamil cries. As the anti-government cry subsided and anti-Tamil cries became dominant, arson and murdering of Tamils broke out.

July 25 (Day 2): After the midnight lull, mobs were led by people with voter registration lists in hand torched Tamil homes, looted and destroyed Tamil businesses. All traffic was searched, and any Tamils found were killed, maimed, or burned alive. Cyril Matthew, Minister of Industries, was witnessed directly pinpointing shops to be burned down.

Many policemen were deployed throughout the city; however, they tacitly stood and watched on. Witnesses recall lorry loads of armed troops leisurely waving to looters who waved greetings back. Curfew was only declared by the President late in afternoon after the worst was over. However, the violence continued unabated. Tens of thousands of Tamils who were homeless, sought refugee in schools and places of worship.

In Welikade prison, 35 Tamil political prisoners who were awaiting trail under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, were massacred by Sinhalese prisoners with the complicity of jail guards using spikes, clubs and iron rods.

The violence spread rapidly throughout the country, engulfing towns like Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Trincomalee. One town was completely wiped out - the Indian Tamil town of Kandapola, near Nuwara Eliya.

July 26 (Day 3): Government imposed a strict censorship of media reporting on the anti-Tamil violence. Word spread of Sri Lanka’s state of disorder as eye witness accounts and photographs taken by returning tourists illustrated the scale of violence. They described how Tamil motorists were dragged out of their vehicles and hacked to pieces while others were drenched with petrol and set alight in full view of the security forces. The International Airport in Colombo was closed.

July 27 (Day 4): 17 more prisoners at Welikade Prison were hacked to death just two days after the prison massacre. The surviving 36 prisoners are transferred to other prisons. Rioting continued and the curfew is extended. Witnesses of the violence reported that charred corpses of Tamil victims lined the streets of Colombo, some mutilated with X’s.

July 28 (Day 5): President J.R. Jayewardene addressed the nation for the first time since the anti-Tamil pogroms, only to fan the flames of anti-Tamil sentiments by stating that anyone who advocated for separatism would lose all their “civic rights”. He states, He states, “….the time has now come to accede to the clamour and natural request of the Sinhala people to prevent the country from being divided.” Vigilantes set up make-shift roadblocks in villages across the island, searched cars and buses for Tamil passengers. In one incident, a Sinhalese mob burnt to death about 20 Tamils on a minibus as European tourists look on in horror.

July 29 (Day 6): Tamils in Colombo began evacuating by cargo ship to the Northern city of Jaffna. Hundreds more internally displaced persons waited anxiously for the next cargo ship to transport them to Jaffna.

July 30 (Day 7): Violence began to dissipate. There was an extreme food shortage in Colombo and across the island as a result of the week long violence.

Post-Riots: Tamils fearing persecution, flea their homeland for Western countries. Tamil began to seek refugee in places such as Canada, Europe, Australia and the U.S. Canada introduces a “Special Measures” program for Sri Lanka allowing family members of those affected by the Anti-Tamil pogroms to join relatives already in Canada.

Sri Lanka has tighten its policy with pirated software & NOW It is REALLY HARD to find those softwares for very cheap price,as most of the Sri lankans were used to do in the past.Police raid the places where these CDs are sold & take them away...

su, I know the pain, mate. I know it.

I am running my own web site in Europe for the education of mathematics, physics and software development. It took eight months to get it up and running.

It was fully-hand coded using the humble Notepad, to get it in line with the W3C specification, a sort of cyber policeman.

Every page has at least well over hundred lines and the site has hundreds of pages. Just imaging my labour.

At the moment, I am working on a buisness softwere and I have already written more than 3000 lines and not even half way through.

So, software piracy must be brought into perspective.

The programmers work so hard to produce them. If they don't get the value for effort, they wouln't produce them. Then the software industry and even the web will head for a stalemate. Not good prosepect, thought.

At the same time, folks in the South Asia can't afford to buy the good ones.

Yes, prices must be brought down to a reasonable level without pushing them to the wall.

Equally true is the fact that countries have their international obligations too. They can't turn a blind eye to blatant trade violations - software or otherwise.

For instance, Microsoft sql server, which normally costs well over two millon Rupees, is sold just at Rs 100.00, at Majestic City. This is crazy, isn't it?

I am with you; a balance must be struck. At the same time, the industry must be safeguarded too. Otherwise, we will take up arms - I am just joking mate; too soft to be violent.

    Take care.

For me ,you have attempted to rebut rupa's post without even properly reading it. Moreover you have exposed the discolorations of your views when assuming rupa's schooling was at global level or about worshipping of idols. rupa's post was very clear and
    to a point.
You summarised your understnding of the gist of rupa's post like this:
"Your point is its accusation of Tamil gang mebers as 'Tamil Gangsters' "
That, my friend, is totally misconceived. I am however, not surprised at your erratic perception for you have clearly, albeit unintentionally, exposed your pre-determined mind-set in these following words:
"Schooling at global level hasn't made you far-sighted. Years of worshiping idols haven't made you pious either.

Because you under the jackboot of a perverted-doctrine - eezam."

I am not sure if rupa's thoughts are underpinned by the Eezham idiology, but this particular post was certainly rooted in solid logic.

  36. Crimewatch I read your post and I agree with you on that Sinhalese should give respect to Tamils...

This difference is mostly found in out of town areas. Because I believe this people living in just Sinhala communities think all Tamils are Ltte.. I know because I thought like that when I was small, and when I came to Colombo I had to work with Tamil people I felt uncomfortable at first.

This is where government should correct its error. Now I have many Tamil friend and who some of them are my best friends. But till I got to mingle with these people I was afraid of them... And I am sure many people who come from small towns in south and sinhala majority area’s have this mentality, like all Tamils are Ltte or we should not respect them since their Tamils… Government should correct this mistake but how I don’t know...

But still we need to see a future for this country. We have two choices Ranil or Mahinda. For me Mahinda is better than ranil. Why??? If you are a leader you must have a vision and you must be capable, you must have the guts to stand up and do something.. I don’t see that in ranil..UNP should come up with good leader. Just economic brains won’t do. We can argue this and that... But end of the day we all have to choose a side don’t we?

    Qrious,

Wow.. you are a gifted person...

I was glued to the screen reading your posting.

Thanks, mate. I am a full time professinal man with a part job - entertaining you folks.

The entertaintment plays a big role at the time of crisis. For instance, if you talk to old Europeans folks, they tell you how they survived the blitz, when rationning, shortage, death were common place. They enternained themselves and got entertained by the state too. And it was a success; otherwise, they wouldn't live to tell the tale.

Our ancient kings have folks to entertain them, too - court jesters. Our old andare is one of them. They had official weepers - dukgannarala. Of course, they had an army of queens as well, may be just to accompany His Majesty to the bed chambers. I know you folks will not agree with me on that.

Anyway, they showed an important principle, something we always ignore. It is division of labour.

Even Tamil Tigers use it. I always see a bunch of women who weep at the funerals of big guns. I hardly see a drop of tears in their eyes; they weep and throw their arms in the air, while looking at the camera.

That is why I bark at our ambassodors and High Commisionors. They must learn a lesson or two from division of labour.

Just appoint a spokesman who can talk to the media; the job is done.

While taking into accout the approval, I update my previous post as follows:

    -----------------------------------

    Guys,

The military is on a steady march almost on all fronts. So, don't demand of the soldiers of big news; it will come, as a trickle though. Saving lives is of paramount importance.

So, I am going to drop a bomb of another topic: read it and read between the lines too; otherwise you won't get it, and you are warned.

Our Kids - whom our soldiers make the ultimate sacrifice for

Our kids are getting smarter by the day, I hear. They go to montesori when they are just three months old, I was told.

Since our folks have a penchant for mild exaggeration, I did my own study recently when I was in Sri Lanka on a brief holiday: the place and time was chosen with careful soul-search.

I laid seige to one montesori, under the shade of a coconut tree, in the town of Kurunegala, early in the morning. I made sure no dry coconuts were at the top and the air-conditioning was turned off to get some first hand experience. I became very sweaty due to high humidity and the heat reflected by that famous rock which is at the heart of the town. But the experienc is well worth it.

Parents, some on three wheelers, some on foot, some on cars did drop these little souls at the gate exactly like a turtle does with it eggs on the shores. Parents disappear in a split second into the maze of unknown and there was a commotion inside the place. Then an abrupt thundering noise, produced by two metal objects, brought in silence - shhhhhhh. The kids were really little and may be just three months old.

Why do parents send kids to montesori at this age? Are they ambitious? Or, do they just go with the flow? Or do they just want hand to them to someone to look after under the guise of education? Answering these question is too senstive stuff. It is like cheking convert-educated Jayalalitha's virginity, with a magnifying glass; less-than pleasant experience.

When parents are on an ambitious over-drive for education, have they produced world-class smart kids en masse? It is debatable, to be quite honest. I have my private reservations.

Why is that? It is because of the Europeans and the Japanese who conspire agaist our smart kids, in their own way. "How do they do that?" you may ask.

How smart are our kids? Really smart. They know much more than you and I knew at that age. They have the internet, satellite TV, computer games to dispense with and Mcdonalds, KFC, and Pizzahut for corresponding energy boost.

Do they watch pornography? Yes, they do. How do they do it? It is on the internet, freely available, at the click of a mouse button. They have to prove the age, don't they? Yes, the choice comes in the form of two buttons - are you over 18 or under 18. They just have to press the former, even if he is just three years old.

How do they get away with it? Minimize the windows, minimize MSN and maximize the Microsoft Word or Powerpoint and then the ignorance of comuter-illiterate parents, in the event they dare to venture into the rooms of busy kids. Does it work? Yes, it does.

How does Qrious know? Because, the parents say so and quite proudly too - kids work hard and never leave the computer.

Are we lucky, the folks who didn't have these things when we were young?

In retrospect, when I remember my childhood, yes I was lucky so are the folks who contribute to this blog.

We had a childhood; we did have a wonderful childhood. It was so sweet indeed. I didn't go to school until I was five.

I used to play with my mates, injure, fight and learn the survival of the great game of life by trial and error, which no man-made doctrine would ever teach me.

There were occassional setbacks, though. For instance, I might have done my summersaults in the dunes of sand only to give an opportunity for an ant to bite at my little penis. I ran towards the maid who were entrusted with the task of my well-being, in pain, of course, until the hapless women ran helter skelter for a remedy. She would, gently massage my organ, apply some ointment, look at the good Lord who stays in the sky, in the hope I would make a swift recovery before my parents were back.

If I talk about this experience with a modern kid, he would say, the maid in question had been sexy. If I say it to a modern psychologist who practises Freud's psychoanalysis, he would even go further: this guy, the poor Qrious, had sexual inclinations even at this tender age, in his subconscious, whatever that means, of course.

If it is the case, the parents must be having nightmares when it comes to putting them into bed. Yes, they do. I was told that old bedtime stories, that you and I were so fond of, no longer work.

For instance, if you tell them that story of the folk who held on to proverbial Tiger's tail, kids may raise a chain of questions, instead of going to sleep.

They may quip: "Are uncle Nadesan, Father Rayappu, Auntie Malathi all wrong?" The bolt of this questioning would put parents to an eternal sleep instead.

Whatever the arguments, the trend is clear. Our kids are getting smarter.

I think the trend continues in the backward direction - towards the womb of course, right up to the foetus.

A particular kind of professonals are at risk, due to the awakeninig of our kids at a very early age.

Gynaecologists who raise not only the stakes of pregnant women to the dangers of natural birth but also the prospect of their bank balance in doing so, must be very careful.

They shouldn't make complaints to the police, if they lose their wedding ring while performing unncessary ceasarian operations, on preganant women.

Baby brigade may be plotting to snatch it under their breath, in future, to prove that they are the smarter of the two.

Bless our kids, folks, bless our kids folks. They need lots of blessings in the predatory world of ambitious guys.

After the Independence of our country we did not create a proper balanced political representation for all races. All government only looked at us Sinhalese and tried to build a Sinhala society. There was nothing wrong in it but at the same time we started to look down on Tamil and ignore their rights. Not even Great Bandaranayake looked in to this problem in fact I guess he made it worse. Anyway by 1970 – 1980 it has developed arms struggle where clashes in the north have started. And then 1983, this is where things got bad. Our fault was as a government we did not try to do anything till CBK government to address the racial issue in our political system. That is our fault. Now we have military wise strong LTTE wanting our country to split and till lately they had the international support also. So if we are to move forward after LTTE is defeated we have to change our political system where everybody Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim will feel it’s their country. If not even if LTTE defeted after another 10 -20 year we will be fight again...

Sri Lanka belongs to all Sri Lankans. In case you do not know, Sinhala Civilization was in every corner of Sri Lanka. Regardless, no ethnic group will get exclusive ownership to any part of it in general. What ever the way you try to spin, no ethnic minority will be given 1/3 rd of the country for exclusive ownership, but you are most welcome to share it as non-terrorists. You, as LTTE terrorist don't own and get anything in Sri Lanka. Your place will be the unmarked graves of history reserved for terrorists. You conveniently forget that due to Brit policy of favouring Tamils, Singhala village folks were living like 3rd class citizens at the time of independence. In fact Brits had programmed them for a slow death to get their lands and they were the least educated at the moment, they were a desperate lot. Only the past glory made them hold to life. They thought they were still living in the land of their forefathers, they did not know that Brits had brought in millions of Indian Tamils…they could not imagine that North was occupied almost by Tamils. When they knew, they wanted to be FREE of all injustice done to them by foreigners, so was born the Freedom Party.

After 60 years of free education and the defeat of tribalism, we know that Tamils or whatever other person born in SL must have all the rights to live free, as long as that person is loyal to Sri Lanka. That is, loyal to SL people not just to one’s own clan.

It is paramount that we discuss items that bring people together rather than divide us, JR is gone so will be VPEE.

You cant blame just one party when there is a problem. CJV followed GG. VPEE followed CJV etc and JR was an idiot who thought himself to be a super smart with his super special advisor Paskaralingam. And Brits were pulling strings dreaming of the lost empire. …..

I blame only the lack of intelligence on both parties for all our miseries. And the intelligence is something one acquires. It is time for us to be intelligent as SRI LANKANS, now or never.

Pilleyan and MR are showing the way, SRI LANKA willprevail.

    - They have a band of filthy suicide bombers

    - They kill their opponents

    - They kill their own civilians in front of pre-arranged photographers to obtain and publish sick photograph on the web

    - They instigate communnal riots in the south to get TASSLs killed.

    - Their front organizations in the west spoil the name of and opportunity for peaceful, neutral TASSLs immigrated fRom Sri Lanka.

    - Their front organizations rob their community making them poor.

    - They bad mouth Sri Lanka, making life miserable for 2 million of TASSLs in Sri Lanka.

I didnt forget about brits.. but brits left leaving us to decide our own mess... yes tamils were more educated and held more position in the big places than sinhalese because they followed what brits told them.. that had to be changed true..

But that doesnt mean that they should be totally forgotten. anyway After the indipendace nobody would have thought that this problem would have gone this far, i dont see any government that would have addressed this issue before it got ugly. 1. the tamil struggle started in 1924 when ponnambalam demanded TAMIL ELAM

    2. first violence in regard to the above took place in 1931 when some tamil students called for a boycott of elections and led to some clashes eventually.

    3. the governments ALSO engaged in violence, BUT that doesn't in ANYWAY justify ANY support for the LTTE

    4. govt.s had mistreated SINHALESE AS WELL!! some idiots conveniently forget this. govt.s in 1972 & 1989 killed MORE SINHALA people than all governments from 1983-2008 have killed TAMILS!!!

    5. BUT that didn't led the sinhalese to support the JVP or any other terror group.

    6. as a result of 5 above the JVP came to the democratic mainstream.

    7. had the sinhalese been so stupid as some tamils who finance the LTTE, the JVP would be still killing people, burning down the national economic centres, causing disruptions in schools, killing minsters, imposing terrorist curfews, etc., etc.

    8. it is the people that forced the jvp to either give up violence or we will let the army and paramilitaries to deal with you rough handed.

    …………………………………………………..

What is the exact role being played by these gentlemen of the delegation in Sri Lankan and Tamil affairs, what was the real purpose of their visit and what actually transpired in the talks may not be known to us for the time being. But, that is not important. (REAL MEANING – IT IS DAMN IMPORTANT!!)
    …………………………………………………………….

Perhaps the Indian establishment can’t help it, as its coalition structure and the nature of the ruling Congress Party do not permit the emergence of statesmen or visionary politicians to deal with the Indian outlook in a manner prestigious and magnificent to the size and gravity of India. (REAL MEANING - BLAME THE STATESMANSHIP OR LACK OF IT OF INDIAN POLITICIANS, LOL!!! )

It now seems that as long as the Congress Party is in power in India, ideological or political approaches towards the struggle of Eezham Tamils and towards the plight of the island of Sri Lanka may not be expected. The BJP may be much better in this regard as there are parallel politicians and enough room for the role of politics in it. (REAL MEANING - SO NOW THE CRAP LTTE IS GOING AFTER THE BJP HOPING FOR A CHANGE!! )

The nature and structure of the Congress establishment is such that the political part of the government has become a dummy, especially when it comes to the question of Eezham Tamils.

Bureaucrats have been chosen and are assigned with a specific agenda, close to the heart of the establishment, in the pursuit of which they are not accountable to the people of India and need not be answerable even to the parliament. In a way it is a shadow military operation and a military option aiming at dismembering the Tamil National question as well as controlling the entire island. (REAL MEANING - SO THE WHOLE INDIAN CONGRESS ESTABLISHMENT MUST CHANGE FOR THEM TO SUPPORT THE LTTE. SHOULD IT CHANGE BECAUSE THE LTTE WANTS IT CHANGED? MY ARSEE!! )

    …………………………………………………………………

The Tamil National question in Sri Lanka is a wider ideological issue of a people facing genocide and it involves the prestige of 70 million Tamils living all around the world. (REAL MEANING - OMG!! THEN TAMIL NADU FELLOWS WOULD COME DOWN TO VANNI AND FIGHT FOR THEIR SURVIVAL, DON’T THEY? )

The negligence and negative approaches shown by the International Community towards the Tamil cause in Sri Lanka and towards the Tamil diaspora are allegedly more due to the Indian attitude than due to pressure from the Colombo government. (REAL MEANING - SL GOVERNMENT HAS EXERTED ENOUGH PRESSURE ON THE IC TO ACT AGAINST THE LTTE. THIS MUST CONTINUE) How to expect the IC to back the rights of the masses facing genocide in Sri Lanka, when their brethren in India are not voicing for them?

    …………………………………………………..

The Eezham struggle has now come to the stage of dealing with the International System. As a government, Colombo is in a better position to tilt the balance in its favour. The Tamils, even though a global community, don’t have a government of them to handle the situation. The Tamil Nadu state is the only legitimate body. (REAL MEANING - BUT TAMIL NADU IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AS THE IC IS CONCERNED!!! )

Of all the states in India, Tamil Nadu has a unique status having a global diaspora. (REAL MEANING - OUR DIASPORA IS YOUR DIASPORA, ALTHOUGH THEY DON’T SEND MONEY TO YOU!! ) It has special perspectives and responsibilities in this regard.

What about the Tamil Nadu Assembly passing a resolution, upholding the right to self determination of the Eezham Tamils, and announcing a policy of supporting it, confining to the purview of the Indian constitution and laws. (REAL MEANING - WHEN THE HELL DID TAMIL MADU BECOME A NATION? I THOUGHT IT IS STILL WITHIN INDIA? )

Like the Vaddukkoaddai declaration of 1976 (REAL MEANING - FUCKKING HELL! LIKE THE CRAP VADDAKUNDI RESOLUTION TAMIL NADU SHOULD ALSO DECLARE VIOLENCE AGAINST INDIA? ), overwhelmingly mandated by the Eezham Tamils for their self-determination, such a declaration from the Tamil Nadu assembly will provide legitimacy to Tamil National question in any international forum and is of immense help to safeguard Tamil rights in any negotiations.

    ……………………………………………………………………………

The reality is that Sri Lanka today is deeply divided beyond reconciliation. Even anyone who harbour a desire to see a united Sri Lanka has to now think of first separating the warring parties than allowing the oppressors to achieve the 'unity' through genocide. (REAL MEANING - LTTE IS TALKING ABOUT GENOCIDE!!! THAT’S HOW THE DEVIL CAME TO PREACH THE SCRIPTS!! )

Engineering and abetting a genocidal war (REAL MEANING - HO…HO.. THIS MEANS THE WAR IS DOING REALLY REALLY WELL. IT MUST BE MAINTAINED AND INCREASED.) in Sri Lanka has to be stopped immediately. (REAL MEANING - IMMEDIATELY!!! HOW DESPERATE? )

Secession of the sufferers who are graduated as a nation is a time-tested international remedy. (REAL MEANING - THEY HAVE MIGRATED TO CANADA, ETC. FOR PUNNAKKU THAMIL CELEBRATIONS AND DON’T NEED ANY NATION)

Those who cast doubts on the viability of Eezham often talk of the practicality and mechanism of secession. They cite the case of the Muslims and Tamils living in the Sinhala areas.

A principled secession based on the right to self-determination is only a first step. Proper political thought, agenda and development in both sides of the island can sort out many practical problems and eventually may bring in reconciliation. (REAL MEANING - SO THEY WANT SEPARATION FIRST? TAMIL NADU SEPARATION FROM INDIA OR VANNI SEPERATION FROM SL) The desired unity may come sooner than one expects. The case of Malaysia and Singapore and the successful model of ASEAN need to be cited here. (REAL MEANING - MALAYSIA? TAMILS? MY ARSSE!!. MALAYSIA LOVES TAMILS THAN TAMIL NADU, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HELD VEZAPILLAI’S PLACCARDS LAST YEAR)

The security of India on its southern front rests on the prosperity and goodwill of the people across the Palk Strait. (REAL MEANING - AHA!!! THIS IS IT. LTTE IS NOW THREATENING INDIA AND TAMIL NADU!!!. HOW ON EARTH CAN SECURITY OF TAMIL NADU DEPEND ON THE PROSPERITY OF PEOPLE ACROSS THE PALK STRAITS? IT’S A DIFFERENT COUNTRY ACROSS THE PALK STRAIT!!!!!! )

    conclusions.

    1. SLA is doing very well. many LTTE cadres are dying; the level has reached genocidal proportions. So the figures in MoD are reasonably correct
    2. LTTE’s international operations are HEAVILY affected
    3. india has deserted them
    4. tamil nadu, which is infested with UTTERLY DUMB POLITICIANS, is the only hope
    5. LTTE is getting more and more desperate. may resort to further barbaric attacks on civilians. Barbarians will classify policemen, school children, office workers, farmers, politicians, etc. as military targets.
    6. this will FURTHER isolate the LTTE in the IC!!

you seem fixated on july-83 as the do-all and be-all of Sri Lanka and its people. You are wrong on many counts there.

Firstly, it was a minority of people who committed the attrocities you refer to. The majority are guilty of inaction in the face of unexpected and overwhelming mob action. The average Sri Lankan is not prepared to deal with an organized mob even today, as would you be unprepared right now.

Secondly, the Tamils seem to think they can continue to hold the entire Sinhala race accountable for what happened then, and that has already proven a decisively critical mistake, which could prove fatal unless the particular perspective changes drastically.

For those who live in the past, the present is a torture and the future generally becomes a predictable failure. There is plenty of potential in Sri Lanka for those who would assimilate and live in an inclusive society.

Majority of the present day Sri Lankans do not care who partner them in pursuit of prosperity. They did not commit the attrocities they are commonly accused of and freely targetted with. They are also not the type to sit around and be held hostage to a past, in which they had no part. Their determination to deal with terrorism directed at them should not be under-estimated.

They are now. They are here. And here they will stay, in one nation, indivisible and unconquered.

"Today the Pal's are without the extremists zeolots at the helm, which provides the people a chance to integrate into the real world in a meaningful way."

    today the palestinians,
    1. have elected HAMAS - aterrorist group - which doesn't recognise the state of Israel.

    2. HAMAS has NOT given up violence; it never will. (other than stupid ceasefires that are no better than SL ceasefire crap)

    3. HAMAS election has ENDORSED its terror among its people!!!

    4. now hamas and FATAH are fighting each other which is fantastic. the only problem is when they want to win the upper hand they fires at jewish settlements!! in israel this is popularly refered to as, IF THEY STOPPED KILLING EACH OTHER, THEY WILL KILL US!!!!

    5. when yassir araft died we thought it will bring peace as he was a hardliner. how naive?

    6. israel and palestine have always been seperate countries (my view) and will always be. war and violence will always stay in the region.

    7. what matters is for israel to continue its development work regardless and tame its enemies.

    8. palestine, i think, is a gone case. ISRAEL took its turn to screww palestine; but they screwwed themselves and continues to do so.

    9. when terrorism mates with democracy the offspring is chaos, misery, democratic-terrorism and terrorist-democracy

  92. Mulin,

Read my comments inline and in bold text,

After the Independence of our country we did not create a proper balanced political representation for all races. All government only looked at us Sinhalese and tried to build a Sinhala society. There was nothing wrong in it but at the same time we started to look down on Tamil and ignore their rights.

Tamils did not loose the right to live freely anywhere in the country.
    What rights were ignored ?

Not even Great Bandaranayake looked in to this problem in fact I guess he made it worse. Anyway by 1970 – 1980 it has developed arms struggle where clashes in the north have started.
Why take up arms ? Didn't they have a way to elect tamil politicians democratically?

And then 1983, this is where things got bad.
    yes
Our fault was as a government we did not try to do anything till CBK government to address the racial issue in our political system. That is our fault.

CBK (and RW later) tried to give political power to LTTE.
Did CBK/RW propose to hold an election there? or just handover power to a terrorist org.?

Now we have military wise strong LTTE wanting our country to split and till lately they had the international support also.
    international = di-ass-pora support.
Indians have supported to a certain extent until Rajiv was killed by the plague.

So if we are to move forward after LTTE is defeated we have to change our political system where everybody Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim will feel it’s their country. If not even if LTTE defeted after another 10 -20 year we will be fight again...

Tamils trying to own a part of this island (aka tamil struggle) is going on for two millenniums now. It must be obvious to everyone that defeating LTTE does not necessarily mean defeating Eelam concept.

There will be another wave of attacks against sovereignty of Sri Lanka even after defeating Ltte. As a nation we must be prepared to face it (Tamil Racism)

    To Malin,

[You conveniently forget that due to Brit policy of favouring Tamils, Singhala village folks were living like 3rd class citizens at the time of independence.

Pilleyan and MR are showing the way, SRI LANKA willprevail.]

I suggest u read the following article written by a fellow tamil and do some further homework before u start pointing fingers at people and insulting all the blood that has been split to ensure our mother Sri Lanka remain one. You SIMPLY CANNOT generalise mistakes of one or two persons as mistakes of a whole race. Here is the link to the article.

I do. I travel to SL about 4 time per year and I have seen how the poor get by (or don't).

However, I have met many poor folks in Sl, who while eating a bare-minimal meal would say that the LTTE motherfcukers must be defeated as that is the ONLY WAY forward for them to come out of this misery. They know the expenditure on the Defense is very high today and in their minds, that is the cause of the hardships.

Do they hate the current GOSL for the rising prices, you bet they do.
However, I have hardly met anyone who said that this GOSL must be kicked out so that a more "soft" GOSL can step in and "negotiate" with the LTTE sons-of-whores.

LIKE MANY LTTE MAGGOTS in this blog they live a good life abroad and talk about war where they only have to give money once a month. But expect tamil youth in sri lanka to kill thier selfs.

As sinhalese so do we brag about SLDF but everyday soldiers die its a life man. I live but that person is gone forever. Let make that sacrifies a long lasting one. Thats all i want.

    ReplyDelete
  118. "If you live abroad and talk about war please dont think everybody in this country wants a war."

Exactly! This is a war made de- facto by Prabhakaran no body else. As everybody in the blog knows i am not the greatest fan of Mahinda & co ( which is saying it lightly) but it was not MR's fault that we are fighting this war. Mahinda was dragged into it by LTTE's actions like the Mavil Aru incident and the Army chiefs bombing.I have repeated this many times and will say this again if Prabhakaran genuinly wanted a peaceful solution He could have achived it when Ranil was in power.

But to achive a lasting solution and not just push the embers of the fire under the ashes which will rage again in the future we absolutly must address the genuine political greviences of the tamil ppl!

Lets hope if this war end with victory to the army we will not forget about it

  119. Bhairav said,

Whether you were under influence of alcohol or women or cheap drugs, there was big difference between "light year" and "lightening

Yes, certrainly there is. However, in the case of the latter, you haven't made it clear, whether it meant under women - physically - or under the influence of them. So, we are in the same boat when it comes to navigating in the ocean of a foreign language.

So, I use my instict to determine what you meant. I sense you meant physically under a woman - swapping places, while kicking out orthodoxy.

If the woman in question is your wife or girlfriend, then it is not a subject for discussion. The only people who act decetnly in this position are Tamil Tigers - sex was banned in this organization at the outset, then the ban was lifted to make a little room for its leader and rape was allowed under certain circumstances, if the young girls show signs of desertion. Light or its speed is not a factor in these circumstances, because they happen in pitch darkness - far away from both the sun and media exposure.

However, you cannot rule out the impact of lightning.

Qrious does not believe in a passive Nature: it is active, intelligent and plays the role of universal cop.

Yes, lightning is one of the ways Nature delivers its wrath at the perpetrators.

So, people who blow up our innocent women and children in the name of freedom struggle and those who defend them, have something to be afraid of indeed. For them lightning matters and so does its speed. You had better stay in a building with a lightning conductor installed at the rooftop or underground bunker, fourty feet down. huddled up with your leaders, to produce some heat, as the great chill is on its way.

Justice is catching up; it is unstoppable.

Diversions as trivial as making a distinction between the obvious - light year and lightning - will not halt that process. It is unstoppable.

Bastians in Europe fall and domino effect has set in.

Turn to people with a charisma of a broomstick - Nedumaran - and all you collect is garbage. No sign of a a headway.

You are paying the price for launching a struggle under the leadership of Mr Less-Than-Perfect, to whom, you offered a series of quick promotions - murderer, freedom fighter, sole representative, and then sun god - in quick succession too.

We, most bloggers, are humble enough to put our hand up, and say sorry when we get things wrong.

The ugly episode in July 83 is a case in point. Decent Tamil folks have forgiven us even if they were the victims. I have met many of those, some of whom lost everything, yet were prepared to forgive, forget, and move forward.

When did you or any one from the very narrow band you represent, say that you got anything wrong?

This is where your downhill journey of the freedom struggle begins. All these years you misled the international community by making up appalling lies. Some of them believed them until you started showing your trademark - biting the very hand that feeds you.

You started exploiting the very folks who offered you a sanctuary to live, learn and prosper - the credit card scams.

Many honest Tamil folks in western capitals tell me how embarassed they are, when Europeans avoid the shops run by dark-skinned Asains.

Of course, they are not capable of making a distinction between the Sinhalese and the Tamils. So, all come under the same suspicion. They will never pop into these shops unless they have cash in the wallet. They never use credit cards; had enough.

Tamil Tigers are renowned when it comes to showing gratitude.

They blew up Rajiv Gandhi as a token of appreciation for what was offered by the Indians at the beginning of this great struggle.

They turned Mahattaya into a proverbial Yogi in order to raise him to the state of a sage - voluntary starvation, followed by beating to hasten the process. He made an immense contribution to this struggle and deserved something in return.

Then the Europeans. You show them how to spend their money in the right way, if they ever dare use the credit cards.

We both Sinhalese and Tamils, start our great projects at an auspicious time. We observe our religious inclinations in our own way in the hope the mission will be successful

If a mission is started by sending someone to his grave, it bears all the hall marks of a catastrophe of macabre proportions.

This great struggle you are so fond of, started that way. Alfred Doraiappa paid the price and the sound, that impoverished pistol produced at the hands of Prabha, signalled the sign of a false start, mate. It was a false start.

It is sad that it took thirty years for you to understand it.

Oh, you got drunk today; I know some faculties don't function as they should. For instance, as you quite correctly said, the fingers.

However, mate, all is not lost.

There are faculties that just flourish under alcohol.

Judging by your post, you haven't noticed them or are deliberately underestimating them.

Look no further than your little pants, for a clue.

The components that it so stubbornly conceals have the power to move mountains, if correctly tuned, according to ancient texts. Marco Polo is a chap who witnessed this in his travels, somewhere in Asia.

The alcohol you referred to - whisky, vodka and alcopop - are generally called spirits. It is not an accidental classification. On the contrary, it makes perfect sense.

There are spirits in them; I mean real spirits, the live ones. If you consume them in excess, they guite gladly make inroads into your fragile structure, that you call body and simply emulate the humble static charges.

There should be a correction in the last sentence, though, in my posting:

mourn must be substituted by moan, although rupa is doing both for reasons only known to him and his mate Peccko.

peccko always rushes to rupa's rescue even in this blog, to defend the indefensible. I thought they were gay, but I was wrong. If it was the case, rupa would not moan. He is missing something more than, that I suppose; he wouldn't tell us.

These Tigers never admit any shortcomings. I wonder they ever go see a doctor; if they do, they may be telling the professional that everything is ok and perfect.

Of course, doctors dare answer back:"then why the hell you come here?" Who wants to cut short their earthly existence! So, they just prescribe vitamin pills that do no harm anyway and find a way out, if kidneys function well.

Tigers are tigers: never give up; doing the impossible; dreaming of the unimaginable.

We gotta bring terror to them... and BBQ them... one by one.

No matter how many of us are killed... our time tested white van + DDT system has nicely brought results...

All we gotta do is to order another big fleet of white vans and double strength DDT.

    Your comments regarding persona-non-grata for those who espouse terrorism in SL, I've made a number of presentations asking the SLG to do the following;

-Publish a data-base of documented terrorist fund raisers as persons wanted in connection with international terrorism. [Would make background checks for employment rather interesting for them in foreign countries]
-Ban them fron flying on SL airlines as a terror related risk.[Other airlines would flee from them too]

Nothing has come out of any of it yet. If there's anyway to push these suggestions with the SLG at domestic level, please do so.

  182. observer,

my apologies. yes, it was you.

this is not entirely new as you say. but it is better to go by action than intended action, especially of the SLA. you know why.

yep. lets wait and see. but ALL thrusts will converge in mulaitivu oneday according to SF. but i recon we need to put more pressure on the mulaitivu front NOW. tiger "elites" should be hunted down AT A TIME WE WANT TO ENGAGE THEM not allowing them time to engage us. kind of pre-emptive strikes on them. this can reduce the risk of them attacking colombo, etc. also.

three (possibly more) spheres of battle in the north where one may be more important than the other in a given front.
    1. land
    2. cadres
    3. capabilities
(not in order, please add if you can).

e.g. in vidathalathivu battle what is critical is 1-land whereas in sencholai it is 2-cadres. in mulaitivu, it must be 3-capabilities. SLAF has been doing this BUT that's VERY limited. the sooner we engage LTTE's elites, the better. there aren't MANY (unlike other cadres). but they are capable of REAL TERROR THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY.

a thurst to mulaitivu will FORCE them to engage these units and this is our opportunity to HARVEST them.

    my view.

    TS,

Well, you can apply the kevin's theory here as GPS was picked through satellite phone which TC used to talk with one of his brothers in Canada everyday. TC's brother was talking with TC when SLDF dropped the payload on him.

Slankan MI was monitoring the TC and his brother's conversation for days to make sure the target, then GPS was used to pinpoint the target.

TC's brother openly tells others in Toronto, i heard, that he was the reason for TC's death as he was talking on the phone with TC when SLAF dropped the payload. You can only blame TC's ignorance which he never would have thought that SLAF possessed that kind of technology since SLAF always sprayed its payload all over the place like paddy fields and civilian settlements in the past.
