Weliweriya Suicide Blast Images : True face of terrorism

Warning: The uncensored images below are extremely graphic and are not for the faint of heart, young children, or anyone offended by violent images.

Click on the image below to view entire album.

The album contains images from the blast scene at Weliweriya Kanthi stadium. Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) carried out a devastating suicide bombing just before the scheduled sporting event (a marathon) started. The target was senior government minister Jeyeraj Fernandopulle who along with 14 others were killed in the incident. Nearly a 100 more civilians were injured in the blast.

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had previously vowed not to attack any civilian targets (including any sports events) in the country. However civilian transports, railway stations and shopping malls have been attacked by the tigers, even during the time of the Ceasefire Agreement.

  2. DN, yes, we have to show the entire world the barbarism of the ruthless LTTE terrorists.

LTTE and all the LTTE supporters are simply cancers to the entire humanity.

See the type of liberation LTTE is giving to the Tamils…..

If the CO was shot down by a sniper at the FDL, during an inspection dont the other soldiers in the FDL too pose the same threat?

What counter measures have we taken for this threat? I dont want operational secrets but a general answer on counter sniping would do.

    "re wetunu wale davaleth wetenawa"

It is like an unwritten agreement with LTTE barbarians.

The first rule of this war must be
LTTE IS INCAPABLE OF ANY AGREEMENT AND THE GOVT OR IT AGENCIES MUST NOT ENTER INTO ANY AGREEMENT, UNDERSTANDING OR CONCURRENCE.

  12. I said in a previous post that..

    1) The more atrocities they commit, the more resolute SL must be to wipe the LTTE out. Negotiating is a definite no no. One cannot dialogue with terrorists. Negotiations must start after the terrorists have been wiped out.

The president of Sri Lanka seems to have read my mind.

”…the terrorists will be sadly mistaken if they think that we could be driven into submission through these acts. Far from it, we will be even more determined to wipe out terrorism from this land…" - H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa

Whatever the IC has to say, this ruthless outfit cannot be tamed by serene methods. They need to be wiped out “with extreme prejudice”, as ASITHRI would say. Israel has done it successfully in the past and continues to do it. USA and UK are doing it right now (even though it is not as much an internal affair for them nor will it be successful).

Sri Lanka has all the more right to stamp out terrorism in our own Pukka Land. We are not talking about a different country thousands of miles away; it is within our sovereign borders. It is our responsibility as well as our right to do it.

Before certain countries come to preach to our Pukka Land I would ask them to put their own houses in order. What have you done to stop terrorists raising funds on your soil? What have you done to reprimand those terrorist elements who perpetrate criminal activities on your soil like credit card scams, extortion, drug dealing, etc., etc.? You turn a blind eye when the LTTE, a proscribed terrorist group, holds rallies in broad day light, in prime venues of your capitol cities displaying images of a barbaric terrorist leader, even allowing live TV speeches from this chief of criminals because the problem does not affect your flesh and blood! Shame on you all, who set one standard for yourselves and another for others. Shame on you I say!

  16. LTTE's Fungus is now trying to fabricate a story saying that SLA is attacking Madu and other churches in its complex.

Either they think that still this story would work!

    or

They don't want to stop a plan that they've been making for months though it falls right in front of their eyes!

  17. PL,

Don't trust politicians as much as you don't trust the LTTE.

There is no doubt MR is the best we had in response to the LTTE, but he is a LONG way from firmly deciding on what to do with the LTTE.

There are many avenues to kill them in larger numbers only if the president okays. We have not banned the barbarians STILL leaving room for peace talks, surrender and the like.

32 countries have banned though it doesn't affect them much. we are the one affected and there is NO MOVE WHATSOEVER to ban it.

But as usual the govt. talks bigger than it does.

Can you remember Premadasa's time? Then every friday on rupavahini there was a program about the SLA's advances with that song playing in the background ("ran malak"). everyone contributed to the national defence fund. every temple held poojas for the military. war was so much in the air. but what really happened?

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

of course there were some face save operations and few real operations to DEFEND our positions. By the time RP died, LTTE had set-up their defacto country!

if you look at the SL govt. there is not many evidence that we are fighting a war apart from inflation.

may be MR also needs to go now, unless he firmly decides on the only solution- annihilation of tigers "with extreme prejudice"!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Guys,

do you think the UK, US, EU, UN, etc. do NOT know about LTTE's barbarianism?

They know fuccking too well! That is why they have banned it in their countries.

    Only problems are,
    1. their hypocricy
    2. they do not think SL can beat the tigers.

we cannot do anything with #1.
only thing we can do is #2.

But when we try to do things they talk comeplete bullshit and try to block us. There is no other way. The onyl solution is going to kill 25,000+ today. It got to be done.

Showing LTTE's barbarianism won't achieve anything as they know it better than us. May be they will get even more scared about sri lankans and their demand for a "peaceful resolution" will become LOUDER.

  20. MD,

    Thanks for the interesting posts.

To me though, the political vibes are there more than ever before of a significant committment to wipe out LTTE. But I see your points about past events and not banning the LTTE. Perhaps there are discrete reasons for this like keeping on the right side of the IC.

Above all, I take on borad your comment about our trust & SL politicians...we know those two words don't mix!

"What counter measures have we taken for this threat? I dont want operational secrets but a general answer on counter sniping would do."

The best counter-sniper method is snipers on you own side. He will know/suspect (with the use of his own training) where the enemy sniper will possibly be located and can engage him or direct fire to that position. As we know, SLA has already deployed snipers along the FDL's and they're doing a pretty good job at the moment. Usually, the snipers' job is to eliminate high value targets like officers and valuable equipment. So it's a good idea not to show that you're an officer in the field (no saluting etc.) because a sniper might be watching for hours to select his target before finally attacking.

We are compiling these pictures together and we are presenting these pictures to many political leaders as possible and I must tell you from the little feedback we are getting, it’s shocking to them and there will be steps to distance themselves from this terrorist lobby. I can assure you, people concerned here are coming out of their entrenched positions, which has been created by the unchallenged terrorist lobby. They will never be allowed to freely do and say what they have been doing for past decades.
They just can’t speak for Tamils any more. People here don’t expect people to speak or fight for their rights with bombs and guns.

Getting hit by sniper fire on the FDL is decided by the distance and the amount of cover available.

I wonder if proud patriotic Sri Lankans have mistakenly discounted the possibility that tones of explosives ARE buried in every nook and corner.

Are we too lazy to organize ourselves and find them?

    Never underestimate:

    a) The power of the Tamil separatism... it was there since king Dutugemunu era. These separatists were and are always against reconciliation... no matter HOW MUCH WE BEND.

    b) Their plan B, in case plan A fails: to make ALL Sri Lankans live in poverty, misery and sorrow.

Are we going to allow that? The time is ripe for every worthwhile Sri Lankan to:

    a) Fight the LTTE pigs with MOST EXTREME TERRORISM in the history of mankind.

    b) To SRILANKANIZE the entire north and the east and make sure the fake Tamil homeland takes its last breath.

  44. lkdood,

"why are they not fighting ?"

Because they know they are going to lose anyway. In the LTTE, it's about saving your own skin now. Nothing to do with fighting for eelam, they just leave the child soldiers and inexperienced cadres there and leg it, while they still have time. If you stay behind to look after them, it's a matter of time until a jet comes and drops a bomb on you or you get caught in a claymore explosion while going to inspect the defenses. (There are some other alternatives too: you could get caught in the middle of a rain of rockets or you can get spotted by a sniper who might chose you for target practice)

  45. Defencenet,
First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great service you provide. I have been a silent observer of your blog for a while. I admit, I am rather addicted to checking your updates and the comments by my fellow Sri Lankans. Very informative and at times it’s entertaining, especially when a sorry a** LTTE supporter makes a stupid comment in a Sri Lankan blog. Watch out, they might start asking for a piece of you blog, as well.
In a more serious note, I would appreciate it if you delete the pictures of the Waliwariaya blast. I do not want people looking at these pictures for a cheap thrill or LTTE supports looking at this as an achievement. I am related to the minister and do not want to see one of our great Sri Lankans, a fallen hero become a chain letter attachment. Hence, please do not provide a link to the pictures on your blog, let’s keep this a clean site. A true fan of your work!

Hey LTTE supports, the civil rights movement here in America wasn’t asking for a separate land, just equal rights. What makes you think that you can wake up one day decide to establish a separate nation in Sri lanka. Get your heads out of your asses and open your eyes! Here is a song for you…. you never gonna get, never ever gonna get it….//

  53. Defencenet,

Good that you removed the link to the pictures. Many of the civilians can't handle these pictures (though you warned them not to look - they are curious). When the civilians get frightened, it helps the LTTE as well.

But they should be shown when it matters. When we are trying to convince the IC and other LTTE supporting NGOs ect. Graphic images of the dead, in full color should be shown in such reports.

But even the civilains should at least see smaller black and white images for them to remember what kind of a ruthless organization we are dealing with. Furthermore, Sri Lankans have a big task in convincing the the Tamil diaspora (in internet forums such as this and over day to day activities) and others for what the LTTE really is. So some kind of evidence (such as these photos) should be available to do this.

Look LTTE dreamers, it’s simple; this is a Sri Lankan’s blog to discuss our progress in the battle field. So, if you LTTE maggots have some thing to say, be cautious and ask for permission. Because, you guys have a tendency to creep in to others property and then claim territory. Just like you are doing to Sri Lanka, sorry mate we got to keep you in check. Freedom of speech and all, but you people do not know how to use your freedom. VP got too excited when the Sri Lankans let you guys run around freely in Wanni, now look what we have here, a separate home land. So, don’t come here bitching and complaining…just like defencenet said go whine in your own blog. If you want to express you pathetic opinion, be humble and keep the whining to a limit. You have gone as far as rewriting the history of Sri Lanka, you’ll get too exited too fast, calm your ass down. Sri Lanka was always one country and it will remain as one. 66. A great article in Asian Tribune for your digestion,

he Catholic Church in North is in League with the Devil and seems to had made a pact with Prabakaran?
    Wed, 2008-04-09 14:19

Los Angeles, 09 April, (Asiantribune.com): The Catholics living outside Sri Lanka are beginning to question the failed spiritual leadership of the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka. As they are able to see through the evil design of the Catholic Bishops and Fathers in the North as well as in the country in general has begun to question their role.

In a letter written by Stephen Long, who is an American businessman, screen writer, published novelist, and film producer and who has visited Sri Lanka, loves it dearly, and cares about our country finding a lasting peace has posed a serious questions.

Stephen Long has questioned the action of the Catholic Churh as follows:

    * The Catholic Church in the north of Sri Lanka should seriously re-think its role in the civil conflict, and decide once and for all which side it’s actually on the side of Jesus Christ and his peace – or the side of Prabhakaran and his murderous terrorists. “

    * In addition, the Tamil people under the influence of the LTTE should wake up and realize the way they are blatantly being used by the Bishop of Mannar; they should see how they are pawns in his apparent and dubious schemes of further eroding the Buddhist presence on the island.”

    * Shame on you, Bishop Joseph! You have put yourselves under a microscope for unnecessary scrutiny by both your parishioners and your Government, and you are giving the people under your influence a just cause to question their faith.

    * Declaring protective motives, they moved the sacred statue of the Virgin Mary from the shrine at Madhu to the church at Thevanpitti, which is in the LTTE zone. They chose to move it to Thevanpitti this site rather than someplace in an area already cleared by the Government forces, and by doing so they have made the statue a symbol and rallying point for the LTTE.

    * You are also bringing back the Dark Ages of the Inquisition by inappropriately – and dangerously – tacitly condoning the mixing of religion with violence. As we say here in America, when are you going to learn how to “walk your talk?”

  70. Now for a minor housekeeping item…

Earlier I saw the LTTE supporter named “peter” saying that:

“I am growing found of the presence of this teen who
addresses others as "son of a whore", "MF" etc..’

    Whoa! LMSSAO!!!

Well, my prized son-of-a-whore, let me tell you OaO Asithri NEVER addresses “others” by any of those labels but ONLY LTTE supporters like you!

Who the bloody hell did you think you are? One of us to use the term “others” here? What do you think this is – LNP? LMSSAO!!!

    Let’s get this straight…

You are a bloody cheap, deranged, low-life terra supporting mf who espouses terrorism in SL where axe-hacking Sinhela babies (of poor hapless farmers in Trinco/Welioya) or smashing their skulls on tree trunks by swinging them by the legs (whereby the skull bursts open and brain matter spews onto the wailing mother) is your idea of “Tamil liberation”…!!!

No, you bloody filthy mf I don’t call “others” "mf" or "SoW," but only you and your genre! No, you are not “others” and will never be! “Others” btw include some of the finest peace-loving Tamils I have met in SL and in my wide travels, where I have marveled at their intellect and social skills (compared to what I have seen from you racist filth!).

Whenever I visit SL and hear a story of how one of your type of filthy bastards was “liquidated with extreme prejudice” (from my contacts in the ---- best remain unnamed) and in many cases in the most “unorthodox” manner – aha, that make my day and I don’t need any more partying in Colombo – at lest for another day! LMSSAO!!!

As for addressing me as a “teen”…wow, I am truly flattered!

However, I would like you to know that your filthy LTTE momma really likes this Dakuney Sinhela-pora “teen” who has the knack of satisfying her better than than your LTTE sakkili dad ever did!

    LMSSAO!!!

No, filthy maggot…do not tangle with moi…I am allergic to terras!

    OaO Asithri (aka Scorpion)

  72. One other bit of news...

Even SLA is now amazed at how much weapons/explosives/gear the LTTE filth are leaving behind when the run from the FDLs in the face of advancing SLA armour (i.e. MBTs and MBRLs).

A senior SLA told me this is actually the first time since this "eelam" war began that they have are seeing this much of abandonment of costly stuff by the LTTE.

Small wonder that it is reported the senior LTTErs at the back are actually forcing - at gun point - the fleeing younger LTTErs to go back to the FDLs and fight!

    What a calamity...!

    I love it!

  75. Hi Guys,

Bit off the Topic. But I think this would be really interesting for people who support LTTE and its stupid operation. I hope those who support LTTE could answer this simple question.

I hope this is written by a very genuine Tamil guy, If I am not wrong..

Question is being asked what has the aging recluse, Velupillai Prabhakaran, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has achieved by killing the dissident Tamil leaders from Mayor Alfred Duraiyappah to Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle. Is he closer to his goal of creating a separate state of Tamil Eelam by these killings? Has he ushered in a rose garden with make milk and honey flowing on to the plates of the Tamils in the North and East? Has he managed to bring about peace and stability to the Tamil areas? Has be brought solace into tamil homeAt least has he stopped abducting the children of the Tamil fathers and mothers? Has he stopped the deaths of his cadres which have so far exceeded 20,000 Tamil youths, by his own admission ? Has he managed to stop the destruction of the Tamil areas? In fact what he has achieved? Somebody has to come up with an answer.

What has Prabhakaran Achieved by his Ruthless Killings: From Mayor Alfred Duraiyappah to Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle?

Its difficult for VP to rule the eelaam if there exist any tamil politician (leader) who is more inteligent (educated) than him. He just didn't get 'chance' to kill rest.

Ohh yeah man i proud to be say that tamils are dark skinned people because even Ravana also a dark skinned and the ancient people who lived in this island are dark skinned ... so Tamils are the ancient people of this island .....So you people might born after the British landed in this Island ..born to a Srilana women and a British Father are you people proud to say that ..then have fun ... ahahahahahahaha LOLzzzzzz"

    thambalagamuwa responds....

"SOMEONE" asserted that "The dark skinned people among sinhalese were Tamils before"

    "I" didn't!!!

So I just said if that was the case you might want to consider becoming sinhalese too following the footsteps of your ancestors since you so seem to admire your ancestral heritage.

This will be my last response on this.

  83. People,

Can someone tell me whether a Mi 24 can evade Anti aircraft missiles under certain circustances?

There is a news item on http://www.defence.lk/new.asp?fname=20080410_04 saying that army shelled LTTE terrorist boats.

So during sea battles can't we station Mi 24's somewhat away from the battle scene but just close enough to fire missiles at suicide boats?

Slovakia ships 10,000 military missiles to Sri Lanka
An arms trade monitoring group has criticised the sale of 10,000 military missiles by Slovakia to Sri Lanka. The Saferworld organisation says that the sale constitutes an unethical violation of the spirit of the European Union Code of Conduct on Arms Exports.

  89. "Defencenet, What is this about???

They're probably talking about rockets for the MBRL's. Missiles are rarely sold in such large quantities.

  90. 10000 Missiles. That seems a lot to me. But why theese people are so worried about gov. purchases?

Perhaps they can investigate where LTTE get such a amonut of C4?

When I read the news everyday, I feel like they produce C4 in their labs.

  94. I am glad that the investigating unit of the Kandy police have done a great job discovering those things at Teldeniya. That is one of the routes they would have used to bring in this stuff from the Eastern Province, an old horse track that connects to Baddulla,Myanggena and Manampitya road. They also must keep an eye on Talatuoya area and on some bogus tree wheeler fellows operating in Anniwatte and dodanwela areas. These are sleeper cells that one day will bring disaster to Kandy. They must close down the worthless police station and barricades near the Maligawa, serves no purpose but on the day of reckoning the terrorists will use the very people that are authorized to pass over the barricades.GOSL must use their limited recourses and police manpower to have a strong dedicated intelligence unit who will be in touch with the community and the lower rankers should be allowed and trained to challenge anyone, however high his rank is or job he hold, without fearing losing his job or being transferred. Plain cloths officers expected us to report the suspected high ranking officer, suspected of bringing a suspect vehicle to a high risk zone, when the President was there for the last day of the Perahara. It was the people’s vigilance that saved us from a disaster.

  95. Thambala,

"So during sea battles can't we station Mi 24's somewhat away from the battle scene but just close enough to fire missiles at suicide boats?"

I don't think our MI-24's are equipped with guided missiles. Just rockets and their cannon. So they have to get close to the battle to get an effective shot and to avoid hitting our own boats. Problem here is the larger LTTE boats are fitted with guns that can be used in anti-aircraft role.

  96. Some articles on tamilnut:

Colombo attempts to create 'health disaster' in Vanni - LTTE

Next they'll be saying SLA planning to test nuclear weapons in Wanni....

    And look at this:
"Health services in Vanni are facing a man made disaster created by the Sri Lanka Defense Ministry, said N. Selvy, LTTE's spokesperson on Human Rights"

Hehehehe.... 'spokesperson on HUMAN RIGHTS', oh hell!!!!!

    Anyway another link:
SLA shell kills fisherman in Jaffna

I've finally figured out (at least part of) LTTE posthumous promotion system. Dead sea tigers become fishermen after dying, same as other cadres become civilians. I wonder what happens if a flying tiger dies, what does he become?

  101. Calvin,

I have found out what Asithri drinks before he writes on this blog. Want to know?

It is a mixture of juices from several rare herbs that grow exclusively in certain parts, mainly the dry zone, of Pukka Land. Being plants growing in the dry zone the juices are highly concentrated. The main active ingredient is “Wallopo-tiggaras”, in latin. It is also known as bash-sum-pulis.

Being the cunning teenager that he is, he has designed a cocktail of juices to make the drink even more potent. Unfortunately I don’t have any details of his modifications. May be he himself will tell us? Pretty please??

    Regarding yur comments;

This will be the final war, if you consider a historic conflagarion between two linguistic groups.

There'll never be enough tamil speaking people left after this to even think independently, let alone communally. even if a eLam is given today, there'd not be enough to defend, populate and viably operate an economy. If you look at those videos in the Kevin Sites collection, you'd see the so called elam cops directing 5 vehicles in all their gung-ho splendour. Now keep in mind there only a few who can read, few who can write and the rest are there since they love the intellectual company.
This was will finish it fully. And it will be a good thing for the tamil folks too. Alternately, we can allow it to fester until the sri lankan tamil identity deteriorates to complete degeneration and gets absorbed by others. Both are workable solutions. There's no need to be emotional abt either.

The foreign domiciled tamils think they can continue the hatred. There are solutions for that too. In time they'll get identified and prosecuted and once listed as connected to international terrorism, a lot of these guys will have to learn to starve.
